From reading your post so far it seems like this car is too advance for you hobby knowledge. Take your time with the building process. Yes you will need a starter box. A pull start engine would be difficult to fit into this car as it's a full out race chassis. Loctite should be used but very little on the screws that are going into metal. Blue loctite as the red liquid is too strong. This is an advance race kit. So take your time. Best of luck. And as always we're here to help with your questions.

Very nice engine to begin with. For exhaust I would go with a novarossi 2660 with a short header

so do i need a fuel filter? and what size engines are compatible with 1/10 nitro chassis?
Only look for .12 racing engines with a rear exhaust and non pullstart.

Ok here it goes, everything you will need:

Engine, Exhaust and accessories:

Novarossi N12T1 (same as jas1 showed
Novarossi 2601 exhaust with a short header

Fuel filter isn't necessary as there is already one in the tank.

Air filter, the Xceed INS box with filter http://www.xceedrc.com/product/103009

Starterbox, I have the LRP one and it's very good. But if I had to buy one right now I would go for the Hudy box.
http://www.hudy.net/xhudy/products/p...&kategoria=282

You will need two 7.2V Nimh stickpacks for the starterbox or one 4S lipo.

Glowstarter, isn't a specific brand I would recommend, they all seem to do their job.
http://www.xceedrc.com/product/105208

Fuel bottle: http://www.capricornrc.com/capricorn...d_product=1272
And some fuel off course, don't know which brands are available in the UK but I would recommend Runnertime or Capricorn fuel since those are the best.

Other

Loctite, I would recommend Loctite 248, makes for easy application.

Receiver battery, Nimh or Life.
Nimh http://teamorion.com/marathon-1700-r...20-awg-en.html

Wire extension for the batter connection: http://www.electricwingman.com/produ...x?product=1426

Glow plug wrench, to place and remove glowplugs and tightening the flywheel nut: http://www.hudy.net/xhudy/products/p...&kategoria=538

Camber gauge, so you can set the camber on your wheels: http://www.xceedrc.com/product/103033

If you don't have them a set of calipers and a steel ruler.

Some double sided tape to mount the battery and receiver.

Glue for the brakepads, the kind of glue which you apply to both surfaces and bond them together after the glue has dried for 15 minutes.
Only able to find dutch sites: http://www.bison.nl/NL/nl/view.do?UI...c2c7dd2dc07ba0

-1.5 2.0 2.5 3.0 hex wrenches

-4.5 5.0 7.0 nut wrenches

-Some sidecutters and pliers

-Grease for the driveshafts and clutch bearing: http://www.capricornrc.com/capricorn...d_product=1178

If you want a painted body already trimmed for the Lab I could send you this one since I won't be using it, never been run:

When interested contact me by PM.

I'm not sure if this list is complete but it should get you started.

awesome info!! thanks for the help.
will contact you about the body shell when i got the car ready

I have been going on a shopping spree with these things lately and now i realised that i put a nice dent in my credit card account. I will wait until next month before i buy any more. I have spent over £2k in just 3 weeks on these things!!

May sound like a stupid question but can I use normal rubber tires on the C01? Something like 26mm wide slicks that I have bought for my 1/10 electric?

for the sake of knowledge and learning, will this fit the car?

http://www.capricornrc.com/capricorn...d_product=1193

I don't really plan on buying this but capricorn is quite spartan when it comes to specs (to say the least). Is this a .12 engine? They say it is based on novarossi, but is it a roaring lion or a purring kitty?

I't a 12 and it's an awesome engine. Get it! It's as fast or faster than a Nova 353, and very easy to tune. Run it in properly, and you'll love it!

Perhaps this link could help you to find out how engine sizes are measured: http://chickentrading.com/viewtopic....9&p=1459#p1459

Kindest regards,
Lars.

What are the classes that the clubs run in your area? The clubs here in South East Queensland run open (12) class tourers and a max 1Hp Gas Tourer class. The Gas Tourer class is a perfect class for beginners, and also many mature guys who prefer to race in a slower race class. The rear exhaust engines in that class are usually O.S.12TG and Jammin 12. Another great engine; the Nova CX12 side exhaust doesn't fit well without modifications in most chassis, including Capricorn. The class is nearly as fast as the open class on a tight electric style track, but the open class tourers run rings around these cars on a big open track. Another good engine that you perhaps could consider is the RB Junior. I think it's rated at 1.15 Hp, but it is certainly not slow.

Kindest regards,
Lars.

It will fit the car, but I think it will be too much for a beginner. If you do decide to get it, go for the 2011 version.
