Most RC manufacturers use lower grades of Ti, which is a shame. Higher grade (5 and up  ) Ti is just as strong as steel.

About stock Serpent screws; lately some are of poor quality. Especially 4mm grub screws and some 3 and 4mm button head screws don't fit my Hudy allen tools... :weird:
(yes, I used the correct size  )

Yes you're right about lower grades of Ti for screws but because there is high Alu content - easier to make and "cheaper".

Thanks for the added info on screw quality. Fortunately, I did not experience this on my 950R or 710 - just rust.....

Yeah, I noticed that too. The current steel ones in the diff measures 4 mm. Don't know why the Serpent optional ceramic balls are 3.9 mm.

But I guess 3.96875 mm is pretty good anyways.:D

1.736 kg without body is heavy ! Add about 100 grams or so for the body and you'll be 1.8 kg threabouts !

My car in race trim with bodyshell was about 20 to 25 grams lighter than legal.

Heheh, Miester Mark has spoken regarding titanium screws !  Welcome to the titanium club.

Well, I too have hopped onto the titanium bandwagon. Mine are all from the Barracuda electric car maker Xenon / Alex Racing.

I want to try titanium screws in my Serpent 710. Not because of the weight saving, but more for the strenght.
Yes, I found that their heads are lasting and less prone to wear.

Kevin, since when have you last changed your Hudy allen tip? :sneaky:

I recently got myself a new Hudy 2 mm allen (the one with aluminum handle) and found that there was very slight play when I fitted them onto new M3 button head allen screws. I also got the Hudy Profitool version of the 2 mm allen driver. Boy, they are so tight fit !I found that they fit real good and I actually had a hard time taking the M3 button head screw out of the Profitool tip !

I use the aluminum handle tools without cap on the end, but I have ordered the red caps, if that clearifies the problem. :weird: :D Or should I have gone for black?

Seriously...my tools are about 2 months old with some signs of use but nothing bad. I have had this problem with 3 of the grub screws in the last kit. With one of them I managed to push the tip in and it was hard to get it out again. The others I have just thrown away because they simply don't fit the tools. They also didn't fit my cheapo set of Bondhus L shape allen keys.
