I also have installed all the 3Racing Hopups .(hopups cost more than complete car kit !) My car weighs in at 1.736 kg without body or fuel ! My car is fitted with the titanium pivot balls not the aluminium ones and replaced all screws on car with stainless steel ones ( from RCSCREWZ ).

All the replaced parts in aluminium have increased the weight substantially .

Does anyone use titanium screws in his Serpent 710?

Where did you find them?

I want to try titanium screws in my Serpent 710. Not because of the weight saving, but more for the strenght.

I'm not sure that the strength will be any better than the standard one - the are after all screwed into plastic parts.

I do have titanium screws, though - mine are all tamiya screws - just find a dealer who supplies good tamiya rc cars and he'll be able to order the screws for you.

Mine are all from Speedmind ... they used to have a package ready for the MTX3 which are 90% similar to the 710 ones.

Ti screws will not be as strong as stock for sure. You can tell as they can be cut easily using a plier. But you'll have a very hard time trying to cut or bend the stock steel screws. The advantage is in weight over stock and stronger but heavier than alu ones. I also noted that stock serpent screws tend to rust....

Most RC manufacturers use lower grades of Ti, which is a shame. Higher grade (5 and up ) Ti is just as strong as steel.

About stock Serpent screws; lately some are of poor quality. Especially 4mm grub screws and some 3 and 4mm button head screws don't fit my Hudy allen tools...
(yes, I used the correct size )

I use Duralube on my screws and the rust just falls off, it also keeps it from rusting. I was too lazy to take the car apart so I just put some on a Q-tip and smear it on the top of the screws or where I can reach them at. NO more rust for me

It rains so much here at the moment, that I can't even get outside - no rust problems
