Re: Thrustbearing after run.

Originally posted by markp27 Yep, that's the one - I previously used a lighter grease and my thrust bearing broke. I should have checked it better than I did, but with the Mugen grease it should hold longer - just in case you forget to check  (Part number is B0308 - in case you need it). It does get thrown out but there always seems to be some left on the ball race and we've never blown one. I'll have to get some Mugen grease, though, thanks. |
Originally posted by Picard The same grease I used with the R12, and it has been fine  Just joking. ;) |

Originally posted by Taylor-Racing Should have used it on the R12 front arms, eh. Just joking. ;) |

Re: Re: Thrustbearing after run.
Originally posted by crashed_1 Mark, if you're using Mugen Super Grease on your thrust bearings, they'll probably last you a good 3 weekends of bashing before a regrease is needed. These grease are great for the diff balls too. I'm just a bit paranoid until I get some spare thrust bearings - after I blew mine yesterday, a friend kindly offered me one of his from his TC3 Nitro - the hole measured 4.4mm in the carrier  so close yet so far  Has D used his Mazda shell yet? |
Wilst discussing offset rims, I'm using some 1mm spacers in the back wheels. This means I can make the track width 1mm shorter either side and thus lessen the risk of a pivot ball being ripped out  As I mention in the FAQ, though, the narrower the track, the less upwards suspension travel you get - but as I'm running 200mm with the 2x1mm spacers, then I still have plenty of uptravel

OK, but what is "specified" for the 710?
Zero offset? |

Originally posted by markp27 Yeah, the normal Serpent rims are 0 offset. |

A thrust bearing from a NTC3?   Better not let D see this man...he'll go hysterical.   Has D used his shell?...He was smokin our local track with it... He was having some problems with rear traction lately. Had a bouncy rear end and found the outdrives on the rear badly eaten up by the doggy bones.:( The rear suspension/wheels tend to move up on acceleration.(More apparent on a starter box) It happened to mine too but managed to cure it with a set of new outdrives.;) |

Luckily I didn't bring the car(s), the BRCA 1:10 Electric Nationals was on! Track slightly damp but those guys were flying regardless! Now I need to go figure how to download the short video I captured onto the PC. |
