Default I posted this in the Fw05r

Hi guys,

I currently have a 710 which I like, but I am thinking of getting a second car.

Is this Fw05r as competitive as the 710? I am thiking of possibly making a switch depending on the info I am able to get from this thread. if not I would just stay with my 710 for racing

how adjustable is this car? ie. roll centers/rear toe/ caster ? - are there optional parts to make it perform better and stronger?

I know there is two version, can someone please tell me the part numbers and what the difference is?

How well does this car handle? is it race proven?

I live in south FLA. does anyone race this car down here? (fw-05r)

thanks and sorry for all the questions

If I dont switch , I would still like to get this car as a back up?

In my opinion, it really isn't a good idea to have two different RC cars to support - ok, I have a 710 and a 705, but I have a hell of a lot of parts for my 705 and with the 710 I'm moving onto a car which is more manageable.

If you want a second car, you should really consider a second 710, as you negate the benefits when you buy a different car to the one with which you practice/race, i.e. inter-changability of parts should something break.
You may even have to use a different RC dealer to stock your supplies for the second car. Also would you get the right level of support at the track you race.

When you concentrate on one car, you can better learn how to set the car up; what its pecularities are, etc.
With a completely different car, you'll have to learn all of these for a second time.

If you feel the 710 isn't robust for you, then get a 705 from ebay - they are at real bargin level and a very sturdy.

Your decision at the end of the day.

Cheers, Mark.

A tip from Chester P.!
Where do you get those 4mm carbide balls? Do they come in a 10piece pack? don't they eat up the plates?

I think the rear diff presents a problem... we were 3 serpent 710 guys at the race today and all of us had bad rear diffs; mine ended almost locked... I have my muleto car with a new diff that feels perfect but the silky smooth operation of the diff goes away too soon

cox 049 you dont need those diff balls for club racing.unless its a big race they tend to wear the rings much faster than reg diff balls.I'll be out in a few weeks and I'll give ya a hand with your carwhen I come out
