What would you guys recommend out of the following servos for steering duties.

KoPropo PS-2113 FET or PS-2123 Digital.

Futaba 9402 or S9350

Sanwa ERG-VB or ERG-VR.

I fancied the Sanwa ERG-VB, but been advised that it may be a bit overkill on the 1/10th, my LHS is selling all these around the same price bracket.

Cheers Guys

Ho ho ho! Errr ... a bit late for that. :)

As for servo's, like you, for the same price I'd go for the Sanwa. I'd use the VR for steering and VB for the brake/throttle. Speeds are close but the VR is faster and helps a lot if you ever get to race at the LRRC !

I probably do this as my step one when tweaking. At first I isolate the front by placing a Hudy Block under the rear of the chassis. The front wheels are on the swing-bar and I adjust the front tension until the front is balance. Then I swap ends and do the back (with the Hudy Block under the front).
After doing this, I then remove the Hudy Block and adjust the tweak for the front and rear once more.
And finally, I connect the sway bars and adjust their length (or the cam thing) until the tweak is once more level.

Do you mean, that it would be better to always tweak with the block underneath one end of the car?

Cheers, Mark.

A couple of minor suggestions:
If the chassis is tweaked, you won't find it out until the end of your process. So I start by laying the chassis on a flat surface and make sure it doesn't rock because it's bent. If the chassis is deformed, replace it. The alloy has been permanently weakened and it will continue to deform with much less stress.
I put a 6 mm allen wrench under the chassis on the fixed bar as it approximates the ride height and maintains the fore/aft balance.
I worked for a very long time trying to get 4 scales to point balance all 4 wheels at the same time (unsuccesfully--a long story). However, one little tid-bit I learned was not to use the car wheels for this. There are enough differences in wheel radius, foam thickness and/or hard spots in the foam to make pressure differences greater than 30 Gms by simply rotating the wheels. I use the set-up vertical pieces that replace the wheels in the set-up kit.
If both ends are balanced (port/starboard) and the chassis is flat in between, the car is right.
Your last two steps will double-check that everything was done correctly.

If you use the liting method you can make a car with a bend chassis "straight" As long as you put the chassis on blocks and measure left and right downstops to be the same and do this on the front and rear of the car without changing the blocks position you will have a reference to work with.

The good thing about this is that tire sizes don't matter. If you have small tires on one side and use the lift method you will end up with a not tweaked car (equal tire load on both sides) although the chassis would lean over to the small tire side.

That must have been like deja vu for you Julius! We basically went through the same points as in that other forum

I'll certainly try your method before my next visit to the track.

Thanks for the info! Any more tips are more than welcome  :D

Julius, great discussion-thank you.:D

Now I see what you mean! Hmm, interesting.

I have a slightly off topic question: With my Tamiya Surikarn, most of the weight (due to the battery arrangement) is on the left hand side of the car. I tweak the car so that the tweak station shows that both sides are balanced, but looking at the chassis, I see one side higher than the other, due to the greater weight of the batteries.
This is also relevant for those who haven't got a prefect left-right weight distribution, which without the addition of some weight to the car, is normally the case.

Am I tweaking my electric car incorrectly?

Cheers, Mark.

(Sorry, bit trailing off)
Im not sure wether it is right or not but I do that on my electric car too.
The diff is my car is 414MWCR it has saddle pack. The SPD tweakstation is a must for me.
I measure the ride height only in the middle of chassis and find perfect left-right balance on top of tweakstation.
Very easy to find it when the shock is newly rebuilded.

With this setup my car(not the chassis) is always in balance and braking is easier ;)

What Julius means is that the opposite side of the CHASSIS where you need to measure / detect tweak must be on a solid beam. The side where the CHASSIS is on the solid beam must be WITHOUT springs.

Yes, I gathered that in the recent posts. Thanks.
