thanks ...choco i think i will pass on that engine...

I think that's best. Like I said, unless you can touch it, look at it, twist the crack-shaft and feel for compression, open the rear etc, it's not worth it.

What Onkel Sow mentioned is correct. It's a hit or a miss. I would do this if I were you.

1. Take out the glow plug and turn the flywheel. If there is resistance, then the engine is maybe OK. If there is no resistance, don't panic. Either case, go to step 2.

2. Put the glow plug in and tighten it. Put a few drops of after run oil in the exhaust outlet of the engine when you could see the piston covering the whole exhaust port. Try to crank the piston to the top and see if there are any bubbles escaping from the side of the piston sleeve when the piston goes to the top. Should not have any bubbles. Bubbles indicate that the sealing is no good.

3. Take out the engine backplate. Try to crank the engine upwards. There should be VERY minimal play (if at all) in the conrod to crankshaft bushing pin. The whole crankshaft should not move up and down as though the main bearing is loose when you try to crank the piston upwards.

4. Take out the piston sleeve of the engine. Check the top of the piston head if you could see any pitting or rough surface. It should be smooth. The sides of the piston sleeve and the piston should not have any scratches.

5. Also check the bearings in the engine. I would just leave the crankshaft in the engine alone with the bearings in and without the conrod connected and try to spin the crankshaft. The bearings should not feel rough or loose.

6. Check to see if the slide carb barrel can open and close smoothly. Sometimes, the LSN needle and the MSN needle can misalign.

7. Lastly, the crankshaft should be straight. I have seen people sell their engines when their crankshafts bend on an accident. Sometimes, the bend is very hard to detect and can cause a lot of problems with the bearings blowing out.

My two cents.

Every countries has it own customs `price`, roughly 17.5% here and we still need to cover another 10% sales tax that customer should have paid (yes, they are not) , not to mentioned about 8% additional cost for air shipping (and that original cost is not even a direct from manufacturer). Hmmmm.. I think we really need to check our balance sheet statement... something should went wrong here

Wow, really?!

I thought it was a lot older than that. I think there's too many old farts in here, err ... I mean MarkP and InitialD of course.

well, the top three posters account for about 44.3% of the posts. an impressive effort, if the contents of the posts does not matter.

by the way, good job on 3hobby, hope it does not turn into a mini mytsn, we have that already.
