Any news on this? The MTX4 is still great but almost 5 years old...

I guess there will be a new car soon. The question is not if but only when?

I hope before Christmas...

Personally I don't think we'll be seeing one anytime soon. Mugen seems to be, um, occupied with offroad vehicles at the moment.

Actually the MTX4 is almost 3 years old, not 5. At least Mugen stays consistent with their cars for more than 6 months before making dramatic changes like Serpent and Kyosho which seems to change their cars every 3 to 6 months. Be patient and give them time, an update will happen.

Actually the only one to make dramatic changes is Team Magic the serpent 720 never really changed they just added option parts to the kits. Kyosho does make some changes but it is the same platform and the v-one rrr has been around i believe 3 or 4 years now they just improve it to keep up with the brand new cars like the nt1 733 g4rs because if they didn't it wouldnt be as fast because a lot has changed in 4 years. Also don't think mugen is king because they seem to be consistent but they should have fixed the 2 speed. i see a lot mugens with kyosho 2 speeds.

First, I never said that Mugen was king and never eluded to that. I just said that they are not induced to make changes every couple of months, making the previous design somewhat uncompatible to the last model. Second, you forgot when Serpent did the Impulse Pro to 705 to 710 change within a year period, changing the car up so much that no parts from the Impulse Pro fit the 705 and only a couple of parts transitioned between the 705 and 710. That transition from the 705 to 710 alone ticked a lot a guys off and turned them off from Serpent in my racing area. Kyosho has so many versions of the V one RRR, unless you have a score card, a newbie wanting by buy one would not know which one is the latest version (which use to happen about every 4 to 6 months).

Also, if you have guys changing the Mugen 2spds to Kyosho, they are doing something wrong. In my area, all the Mugen cars still have the original 2 spds, including mine. I will tell you from experience, the bearing on the 2spd housing need to be cleaned and lubed every few runs or it will start to bind a little from dust and dirt debris. This will cause it not to spin freely, thus causing the stripping of the the 2nd gear (if the gear is meshed properly).

Just Mugen haters wanting to bash on the product.:lol: Seriously, while all the racers around me in my area change cars to get the latest, greatest, I have been running my MTX4 since just after it came out and my expenditures have been tires, a few parts, a couple of OS engines, and a few bodies. That is a lot less than a $350+ car kit every few months along with the tires, bodies, parts, and engines. And, I am still just as competitive with the other cars without all the added costs of switching cars and having to relearn the car and develop new setups for said car (reliving the learning curve for each new car).

I will not extend this discussion, but my MTX4 has almost 5 seasons, I don't know about yours.

Let's see my MTX4's live:

Sep 2005 - Nov 2005: 3 races (half a season)
2006 - 1 season
2007 - 1 season
2008 - 1 season
2009 - will be 1 season

I just need 'half a season' in 2010 to be 5 seasons complete.

MTX4 is really almost 5 seasons old.

If your car is still working/reliable and still competitive with the others on the market now, then what is the problem?

That's what I am talking about. Mugen has a reliable car and people gripe about when are they going to develop a new one. Mugen has always run a design for at least 2 to 3 years before they redesign it. If folks want a new design (and get caught up in the 4 to 6 month new format rat-race and spend tons of money), then you can roll with the Serpent, Kyosho, or Xray (already have a '09 version with the first version barely a year old). When Mugen does come out with there new car, I will wait in line to get one but won't be in a hurry because the MTX4 still runs with the best of them.;):D:nod:

Well said!. I have a MTX4R and a first edition RRR, and it seems like everyone at our local track has jumped on the bandwagon to buy the new Serpent 733.
I am Very happy with both cars, but do run my Mugen much more than my RRR.
I think a lot of drivers are looking for the "missing piece" that will land them in the A mains, and think that the new car might just do that. If you cant win with the cars that are out now, I doubt if the newer cars will make much if any difference.
I ran the wheels off my MTX3 before I changed to the MTX4R, and really the only reason I changed was because the parts were starting to get difficult to find for the MTX3.
