Yes I've seen that too, I wonder if the shepherd has similar chassis tweak issues since the chassis are almost identical

Alrighty !!!! Let's go racing....

NITTO550 03-27-2014 03:04 PM

Oh yeah, port Jervis is where you will see me! What's up Bert !

NITTO550 03-27-2014 03:25 PM

Ross , did u find your problem? You might want to check the diff front and rear and feel if they are smooth or not.

Not really. Here is a crude video I shot of me pushing the MTX5 (on the right) and a very old HPI R40 (left).

https://vimeo.com/90283023

Both cars are on HPI vintage rubber tires. The MTX5 rolls much better if I take the side belt off it.

try this.

Try putting the optional 26 tooth side pully on if you have epual diameter front and rear tires.

Interesting site: amainrchobby.com

This site is apparently selling a Mugen Mrx5 for $264, Mtx5 for $240, Serpent Viper 977 for $272, etc... way too good to be true. In fact, every price on the site is too good to be true. But I have to investigate. Scam red flags are everywhere. Only accepts credit cards, western union, or wire transfer. I made contact and actually received a response from a person named Lina Han. The dialogs begins... I will update.

hello
but as it is pull the belt side?
you find it difficult to pass it under the belt tensioner side?
pay attention that some detergents can alter the straps rendodole slightly swollen and then a smaller diameter and this blocks the smoothness
(this from personal experience).

rossb

Go to the track and test your car there.

Within 10 minutes of testing .... you will notice if the car is doing fine OR there is something not right.

Make sure you install the correct pulley related for middle belts before testing at the track.

I'd usually agree with you out of respect, however if he puts it on track with wrong ratios he may trash his side belt and pulleys and you have noted it, I'm re-iterating!

ROSSB:

If the side belt wants to climb off the pulley then there's a mismatch of ratios in the drivetrain when all wheels are on the ground then...

Keep the side belt on the car, put it on the ground and lift the rear and move it forwards and backwards, feel if it rolls well, watch the side belt while you are doing it. Then do the same lifting the front wheels off the ground.

If the side belt wants to climb off the pulley when doing this there may be a misalignment. If it doesnt then the gear ratios front to rear are the problem.

Check the trans-axle's pulley and all the other pulleys (side and front) again and ensure they are all installed correctly and the correct number of teeth.

If all still checks out, go to the speed calculator I wrote and plug in your values for pulleys, tyre diameters and check the final ratios front and rear. Don't enter values the manual states, enter the values of the pulleys as they are on your car.

See here: http://capricornrc.com.au/home-2/lab...ed-calculator/

Lets not discuss what colour the bulkheads are, many of us love the hobby regardless of make and model.

Steve: a 2mm split is a 5mm diameter difference per rotation, and doesnt (Luke just tested it) stop the car from free rolling otherwise in a 30 minute race, we'd all be stripping side belts.

With respect,

h

Rossb : I trust you.... you have build your car correctly according to mtx5 instruction manual . Sooner or later you have to bring your car to track and have it a road test. I'm sure it will be fine. New build car need break in time. Dont listen to blis too much ..... trust your build and the instruction manual.

Blis : I dont love this hobby regardless of make and model when smart people like you around.... ok?

bertrandsv87 03-28-2014 09:33 AM

What's up Rich !!!! It's still a bit cold outside, but when it warms up , I'll be practicing everyday at FBF !!! LoL !!!! No way to catch me after that....ahahah...... See you.....
