stroke has not changed in any way. go back and look at the bore and stroke of all the previous models it has not changed just rod lengths have. go look again all the way down to the side port motors! It will be a short rod motor. That engine is Mugens new NS 12 variant. They are getting an 21 R1WC variant also soon

you might wanna check this engine's data once more.
This is a long stroke, not a long rod.
14.25 stroke x 13.7 bore is long stroke.

NSR come with same color carb insert as NS12S5

NRS12S5
Has anyone run this motor yet? If so, how does it perform?
Does it scream but lack bottom end? Or, is this a real good motor?

From my understanding haven't all the nova engines since the cx12 till the ns12 been 14.00 x 13.80?
This one by the specs has a longer stroke and smaller bore.
Also isn't any engine that has it's stroke longer then the width of the bore known as a "longstroke" or have i been smoking my pipe too long?

One word. Amazing!!!!
considering my previous engine is OS 12TR, this engine have tons of torque and seem to have endless rpm. I haven't finish breaking in the engine, still running the engine on rich side but I can already tell it's a lot faster than the OS 12TR.
I gotta thanks Manticore for giving up his NSR12S5, otherwise disaster999 won't be able to deliever this beast to me as he promised.

Isn't there a roar rule saying the engines need to be 14 x 13.8? If so then that engine would be illegal??
#400
Nope, there is only a rule that says the displacement can be max. 2.11 cc (0.12 cui).
How you get the is your roblem...

On new engine, strock been encrease on .25 mm and diameter decrease 0.06 mm. I would concidering like no real changes were made. The square area of piston has been decrease by .88%, so down force been decrease too, but it is so low, I wouldn't realy concider it as change. (down force is pressure of burned gases multiply by area of piston). But with longer strock and ROAR, IFMAR and efra ruls of 4.5 mm exhaust windows height-it will have tighter timing on transfer and exhuast (Stefan says windows look the same). So, without modding this will be more torq and less top end, but with better milage.
It is my opinion, I might be wrong, I didn't see no one of them yet.
BTW, later activities and inputs from everybody in this thread realy make me happy. Thanks everybody and let's keep it on.

As I know, in engine's world the short strock engines are called if diameterof piston is bigger them strock, if the diameter of piston smaller then strock-long strock engine and if diameter of piston equal to strock-it calls "square" ( I am not sure in english is "square" does make sence, might be different word use). So, all our on-road engines are long strock.

I stand corrected they did change it some go figure. I must have had a dislexic moment when I looked at it. However the change is fairly trivial it will give it some more torque but it will be a very small amount. .25 MM is only about .010 thousanths of an inch or the thickness of a silver head shim.
the data says the porting locations on the liner have changed so I assume they have adjusted the timing on them to get back to where they were.
