What's causing the issue? Only time I had trouble with the rear belt was if something got in there or I had a bad crash.

Make sure the rear belt is tight, don't use the kevlar belts, and make sure your brake pulley is not worn. I race almost every weekend, and I've been running the same belt for about 4 months. :nod:

me neither, and i've had the same belt there since i bought the car. i think your belt might be loose John, either that, or make sure it is tracking straight, ie that the diff pulley is in line with the layshaft brake pulley. if they are of, it is on an angle and this could be what is making you break belts

will work, but bang for the buck the JP stock is hard to beat.

The picco is an alright motor but for the same price you can get the budget Novarossi TS1 that is just as fast but smoother & easier to tune.

mark has a good point about tuning... the JL/ picco is harder to tune than nova or os engines.. os being the easiest...

but i hear once this engine is tuned it runs better that the other ones

It may or may not, you'll be going through some trial and error with clutch work and tuning on the Picco. Is there anyone at your local track that runs them? I can give you pointers here and there, but I think what were all saying is if you don't have the ear for it you'll end spending more money in the long run on rebuilds for the Picco. From my experience novarossi's and O.S.'s are a lot easier to tune. But then again you can blow those too.;) If it were my first racing engine, I'd go with the nova based;)

Well, in all honesty. Running better is a relative term. I see more people struggle with picco and have for years. Back in the day picco was all the rage, and they are making a comback. When I see someone racing a Picco engine I am not worried about them passing me on the straight away lol. I have always been a Novarossi guy so maybe I am biased, but they make good power, decent bottom end, good top end, and they will run forever if properly tuned.. and the power band makes it comparable to other guys you might race with that things like gearing would come in handy to know even if you don't have the same cars.
