July 17th-18th
Exciting, Family Friendly and Free racing entertainment coming to Mercer County, PA. this weekend! Big Dog RC in Stoneboro, PA. will be hosting stop #2 of the Midwest Series Nitro OnRoad Race series. Some of the fastest RC drivers in the country will be testing their skill driving their nitro-methane powered RC cars to speeds of over 600 “scale” miles per hour! This event will draw amateur and professional drivers from around the eastern United States.
Racing is run by the “Midwest Series” organization, which has been around since 1969 and has held races at numerous tracks around the eastern part of the country for over 50 years. “The nitro powered cars, with multi-geared transmissions, fuel stops, tire changes and 20,000+ RPM motors are as close to Formula One racing as you can get in a model car!”

Their number is 724-748-5514 and is just 15 minutes from the track. The “Waffle Guy” will provide concessions with tasty “Fair Food” during the event!
Drivers will start showing up on Thursday for all day practice on Friday. Heat races and qualifying starts Saturday at 1pm with the Main events on Sunday at noon. There will be 4 classes of racing, 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive in 1/10 scale and 1/8 scale models along with an exhibition race of 1/10 electric cars on Saturday.

Also want to add that there's some power available in the outside pit area, but not enough outlets for everyone.

Bring an extension cord and a power strip, and we can daisy-chain around the pit area.

Update for Stoneboro:

We are going to run AT LEAST 2 quals on Sunday. Maybe 3 with shortened mains, depending on turnout and how much running tonight.

If you’re considering a one day event, come on out.

For everyone who missed the MWS race at Big Dog RC you missed a good time. The weather could not have been worse on Friday and Saturday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more rain in 2 consecutive days, ever. However on Saturday, John (Big Dog owner) brought out 10 electric trucks RTR and we ran 2 heats and a main on the flooded track. Good time was had by all, weather you were driving, watching, or wagering! Lon Burling picked the winning truck and took every ones money.

Sunday the weather cooperated and it was a beautiful day for racing. We got the track prepped and ready by 10:00 and practice began. Racing then started about 11:30 with 3 rounds of 7 heats. It looked like the 3 rounds were just right for everyone to qualify in the position they belonged.

The 20 minute Mains started at 3:30. The Touring cars began the mains with all drivers in the A. David Dunn was able to hold off Nick Alteri and finish with only 1 lap over Nick. Philip Neiswinger drove a clean race to finish 3rd.

Next Up was the 1/8th B main. There was a lot bobbing, banging and weaving in this one. Allen Denzine was holding on to 1st place until he lost both front body clips and had trouble getting back to the pits. Daniel Michel was then able take the lead and keep it to the end. James Palansky was able to keep running the entire race to take 3rd.

The 1/8th A main was next. Ted Hammer put out his best driving skills and was able to win this race by 4 laps. I was in this race only because I was the 6th fastest. When this race was coming to the final laps I just wanted to park it and watch Junior Riley and Walo Walker battle it out for second. The race announcer was announcing a really exiting race between them with them racing within 0.02 seconds lap after lap. They swapped leads 8 times in the last 8 laps with Junior taking 2nd.

The last Nitro race of the day was Pan car. There were only 3 entries for this, but they all enjoyed the day. Barb Bury drove a great race and was able to hold off the defending 2020 Pan car champion James Palansky by a really short margin of only 11 seconds. And Lon Burling took it easy knowing he’d get a podium finish

John (Big Dog) was a great host. He went above and beyond his duties of being a host track. He brought in a large concession for the weekend which had some really good Fair food. Although the MWS didn’t hand out awards because we didn’t know how many were coming, John presented the top 3 finishers of the mains with “Big Dog” trophies. He then handed out a trophy cup for the racer that drove the furthest to get there. It was the 2020 Pan Car champion James Palansky. AND in the cup was a 20 $ bill!

The $100.00 the MWS made on this race will be donated to the Cinci Club for race track project. And Lon Burling gave me his truck bet wager winnings of $20.00 to and to the donation. A special thanks to Lon.

Everyone their all said they would go to Big Dog’s track again. Depending on the progress of the Cinci track, maybe we can schedule another race there latter this year. I think we definitely should include them in our schedule next year.

And thanks Mike for all the work you did to make this happen.

Default Where is the Cincinnati track location

Wanted to know the address or approximate location of the Cincinnati track so I can take a look at potential hotels.

Warren County Fairgrounds - home (warrencountyfairohio.org) This is the site to the fairgrounds. There are approximately 50 within 15 minutes. As we get closer to a date we will see if we can get some deals with host hotels. The fair started yesterday so not much to do this week.

$120.00 was donated to the Cinci. club through Go Fund Me. It has my name on the donation but it was from the race proceeds from the Big Dog race.
