To the racers who were at Big Dog the 19th of June. What is pitting like? Does everyone bring their own table, chair, canopy...etc? A couple of guys have asked me now.

They have a very limited pit area with tables and chairs. You should bring your own canopy, tables and chairs. Power is available.

I hope we get enough racers. Talk to your friends and get there names posted here.

I just got off the phone with Mark U. Everything has fallen into place for the Big Dog Race! Their will be practice Friday, the 16th. The usual MWS Race format will follow. Mike McSmooth is seeing about setting up a Racers Rate at one of the nearby hotels. That info will be posted soon. I'm looking forward to this trip at a "new" track! I hope to see many racers there!

Please have a great, Happy Fourth of July!

Wil Jones has started a new RC podcast. Please check it out at the link below. He needs everyone to follow it and spread the word. We can all start getting our race schedules, race info, etc on his podcast. He wants to promote the hobby and get info for any questions anyone might have regarding the hobby.

As you have probably read Nicks post on Saturday that the Big Dog RC track race in Stoneboro is happening. Mike McBride is trying to get information on any hotel deal that Big Dog can set up, and post that information here soon.

Since we didn't know for sure when and where our next race was going to happen, I wasn't able to prepare and have awards made. Because we didn't have any sponsors this year there wasn't much left after paying for the awards for the first Toledo race.
And since we don't know when and where the next race after Big Dog will be or when I'm going to donate the MWS portion of the Big Dog race to the "Cincinnati build a track fund" . The MWS pays the host track $25.00 out of every $30.00 entry fee.

Hope to see everyone soon.
Mark

I would like to thank Paul Lemieux for his sponsorship with L2 Gravity

I think it is awesome that the MWS proceeds from the Big Dog Race are going into the Cincy track fund. Thanks for coming up with that plan! With any luck and putting in some work, the next MWS Race will probably be in Cincy. Hopefully, not the week of the Nats..Hint,hint. Cya all soon!

The nitro classes are a fairly new development at Big Dog's. They get 2-3 of the Pan Cars a couple weekends a month, but that's about it for a regular basis. The hope is that the upcoming Midwest Series helps spur some local interest in the other nitro on-road classes.

Travel tips for this weekend's race in Stoneboro:

Those coming across the Ohio Turnpike: Be sure to exit the Ohio Turnpike at Exit 218 before Youngstown, and take I-80 east into Pennsylvania. It's the fastest way to the track, and you avoid the $13 toll if you were to enter PA via the turnpike.

Those that may be coming from the south via Wheeling and using I-79: There is significant construction and VERY narrow lanes in the area of Canonsburg, PA (mile marker 43) which lasts for several miles. Please use caution in this area.

Again, the track address is 482 Stoneboro Lateral Road, Stoneboro, PA 16153

Another money saving tip: Fill up your gas tanks before entering Pennsylvania. The gas prices here are quite a bit higher than just over the border in Ohio.

Upon arrival at the track, refer to the image below. The track owner has designated the area for RV and trailer set-up. The pit spaces closest to the track will be for EZ-Ups and such, and all cars will need to be parked away from this area. Just like the GLC, it's OK to load/unload, but the cars can't stay there.

There will be "track food" available each day. Expect burgers, hot dogs, drinks, etc.

Track will open at 11AM on Friday, for those arriving early. Racers can plan to arrive around 10AM. If you're arriving Thursday night to setup a trailer, please try to arrive by 8PM.

The local racers are VERY excited to have us for this event. Expect a lot visits to your pit areas with questions.

Safe travels!
