Exclamation Neo16 Statement on tyre sauce and commercially available tyres

With last years NeoX drama with regards to tire sauce some rules have been clarified:

The organisers of the Neo16 event, held 25-28th March at Harper Adams, UK would like to issue a statement specifically clarifying rules on tyres
  • All tyres must be black, with the exception of side wall lettering.
  • Tyres must be commercially available at the time of the meeting for immediate purchase
(ie can be bought or ordered at the time).
  • It is not permitted to reduce the diameter or width of a tyre by cutting material out.
    Trimming of spikes is allowed.
  • Tyre additives are not permitted under any circumstances

What a joke - last year didn't the organizer say on the 5150 video that sauce was never disallowed, it was just a gentleman's agreement not to use it. People used it, so then it spread like wild fire..

Now here they are, disallowing it.

But what constitutes a "tire additive"?

"Oh, this isn't sauce, its just my tire wash...."

I'd reccomend a simple rule regarding the (often thin) line between tire wash and additive: if you're willing to drink it, you can use it on your tires

Just forbidding tire sauce is a joke. Only handout tires stored at the race organisation or saucing alowed is a good way. As long everyone can have their own tires you can not forbid saucing.

Sadly there are a lot of people who do not like these 2 options and do believe in a drivers agreement. FORGET IT! For sure the people screaming out loud that they do not sauce and want a legal saucing are the ones who are doing it.

Anyone that still uses it is a chump.

Hopefully the pros will set the example, and leave the cheating to the desperate back markers.

I mean, if no one is using it, and the grip is low, it's low for everyone one.

The track is always the same for everyone. Why is that so hard to get a hold of?

The track won't be the same for you, after the cheaters start running additives that go into the surface of the track, the track will change for you, actually.

That's an interesting rule too, prototype/one off tyres have been popping up at a lot of the bigger races lately.

One off tires been going on forever and it's crap! The back markers usually aren't the ones using it. More like the pro that's not on pace and afraid of sponsor problems.
