Stop seeding open by lap times... that will get guys looking for cleaner racing in the next class real quick.

That's pretty much the same thing. All the big names would be in the invite class and the open class would have 200 50% sponsored guys some of who are way too fast to be racing with us weekend warriors and some if whom don't know the difference between a glow plug and a butt plug

I can appreciate that BUT. This isnt a club race and if your going to run the DNC. put your big boy pants on and run with everyone.

I have a question because maybe i am missing something.

why is all this talk based on only chassis sponsorship and not any other type of sponsorship? like a tire sponsorship for example.

Which of these 2 option below would you rather have going into a race like the Nitro challenge, or which is the bigger advantage to have.

Option 1: have a 50% chassis sponsorship and have a discount on the arms, clutch, maybe a chassis plate etc to freshin your car up before the nitro challange. or even by a new car.

or

Option 2: have a 50% tire deal where you can have fresher tires than option 1 or have more compounds and tread patterns to choose from than option 1. and have a car that has a season on it and is a little sloppy.

I personally see option 2 as having bigger advantage. Because tires are a BIG deal in performance. or is this just me?

it is simply more difficult to get a chassis sponsorship.

I think that is arguable. But which option provides the best advantage, which i think is more important in the "what makes you pro or sportsman debate" and keeping the sportsman on a even playing field which is what this all boils down to.

The rules are the rules. Joey made it very clear.
If I drive 75 in a 65 I will prob get a ticket. If I have a chassis/ car mfg 50% deal or better then I must run pro. If I try to run open I will prob get dq'ed.
It's that simple.

I just looked at the flyer and it states "Anyone can run pro. But if you have a car manufacture sponsor you must run pro." which seems pretty ambiguous to me. Myself being a sponsored driver reading that I would assume that I could race open as it is not clearing defined so there for open to interpretation. I understand how people would not want to run with sponsored drivers however if I would have signed up/booked a hotel room/drove out there and then was told oh you have to run pro BTW I would have not been to pleased. At this type of event there need to be at least 3 classes sportsman, open and pro with CLEARY DEFINED rules on where people should run. Like the JBRL which states "No chassis sponsored drivers of any percentage are allowed in the Sportsman classes"

From what I have heard yes this is an awesome race however I have also heard that the nickel and diming racers to death is getting old.

I'm not really sure how that is ambiguous? If you have a sponsorship from any company that makes cars....you have to run pro. It doesn't state if you have a 75% sponsorship deal with a car manufacturer you must run pro.....it states if you have a sponsorship PERIOD from a car manufacturer you must run pro.

I know most guys that race RC can read....I mean we read the manual to build a kit right? lol

I would say if you are running SC and you are utilizing their SC as a sposored driver for proline then yes that counts. Running 1/8 scale with a tlr, ae...whatever and using pl tires, then no.
