My engine is Picco 5TR team spec with 2099 pipe (smoothest from all picco pipes).
Already ordered new clutchbell, and gonna make some experiments with old one.
3 - 4 gal is very unrealistic. If I get a gallon out of a set of shoes I am happy. I think your wear looks normal.. actually they don't looks very worn at all. Are you running on a high bite track? Do you have a heavy throttle finger?

So, have you tried these shoes? Is your clutch stock or some aftermarket?

Track is med bite with dust on top. Finger is moderate, it's my first nitro, but i already have ebuggy with sensorless motor, so i know how to push trigger softly=)
Shoes on photos are worn, esp. composite ones. Maybe thats just because i have 'dirty' clutchbell instead of using new&shiny with comp. shoes.

Only time Ive had composite shoes last was in winter on my MBX5T. I knew in summer they wouldn't up for more then a race because of the temps and track abuse.

I have to agree and say that your shoes looks like it has lots of life to it.

Why don't you try a 3 shoe clutch, last longer. When my stock Tekno shoes wore out, I just replaced the whole lot with a spare 3 shoe system, didn't need the bite of a 4 shoe on a buggy anyway.

Sorry I've been pretty busy the past few days. I never noticed any damage to the outer filter running it this way. I think I'm at about 3 gallons or so on that engine.

FYI My linkage does rub on the air filter as well. It sucks, but with it being a dual layer filter it really doesn't hurt anything. Getting the linkage straight is more important.

I ran them before on a 3shoe setup. They are very hard but have a decent
bite to them. Very important you have someone help you "set" the shoes or
they will slip. The thing I remember most about em was they ate the flywheel
pins Not as much of an issue with the tekno clutch since the shoes ride
on replaceable pins.

Stock clutch running these shoes. They are awesome and show almost no wear after about an hour of practice, 3 Quals, and a 30min main.

I ran 1 composite with 2 aluminum shoes I my RC8B a couple years ago. I found that the composite shoe wore really fast, and it made the alum shoes last a bit longer. I think its because the composite shoe lightly lubricates the bell, while allowing the engine to engage the bell a lot smoother. Get some Muriatic acid and you can make the bell look like new inside.

unfortunately theres not much you can do to prevent it, the first run of the shims never did that so i think there was a manufacturing issue? idk? ive heard the mugen shims may work but you have to drill out the hole a lil bigger, im not sure? i just bought a couple packs of extras cus they are cheap and have been checking my diffs more often

yes these shoes are worn but they have done 4 gallons now still I think there enough to get another race day out of it

I just cant understand why people say they on get one or two race days out of them, there must be something wrong or you are really heavy handed with your trigger finger
