Little question at Tekno rc guy

As hara is about to try all the nitro off-road chassis 1/8 right now, did he contact you to test the NB48?

It probably won't fit, but the stock body fits :).

We've been in contact with Hara. We'd love for him to try the buggy, but nothing is planned at this time.

I have a friend that is letting me run his this weekend. I have been running losi for as long as I can remember. Soon as I run it I will give you my opinion. I will also do some filming to post for you to see.

spunkysandoval 12-09-2013 04:58 PM

I was supposed to have my NB already but it looks like it is delayed till friday which means I wont be able to run it this weekend. Bummer :(

Cant wait to run this kit!

The Hunger spray oil works awesome.

I will get something up Hopefully Sunday. I can not race the entire weekend because I have to work Sunday. I will be there all day Friday and Saturday though so will definitely run it a lot.

The HoBao low profile air filter is very close to the stock air filter. We're trying to confirm if they work 100%, but I'm 99% sure they will work. We should have all of the spares in about a week or so.

spunkysandoval 12-12-2013 12:09 PM

Looks like I'll be getting my kit today. Going to try my best to get it together for a race this weekend.

I'll post some build pics as well

CBeeler46 12-12-2013 06:43 PM

Well I just got done with my build. There is not much to say about it other than it is just a work of art. Amazing job Tekno. If you are looking for a new nitro this is your buggy. I will be running mine this weekend. I will give a follow up on my opinions of the car handling wise Sunday or Monday. But when will the stock body be available for purchase? I am wanting to send one out for paint.

Great to hear! Hopefully your first drive report will be as good as your build report :-)

We should have all spares available by the end of the year.

NB48

I Found a Great deal........ so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on my first Tekno !

fiercercsolutions.com

(Thanks Pete !)

Super fast delivery , so I should be able to get it get it built this weekend. :)

sramos 12-13-2013 06:38 AM

Do the brake pad support post need to be tightened all the way down? When I did the center diff wouldn't move freely. So I backed off a hair. I don't know if it's common for the pads to be tight at first and break in....this is my first nitro build so I feel like a newb again lol. But so far the build is going smoother each time I build a tekno. And I can build it pretty fast now that I know the vehicles backwards and forwards, now some of these nitro parts I have to learn to build, doesn't help I'm OCD and it's gotta be perfect ;)

I'm gonna be in the same boat in April when I try my hand in the nitro scene. Share your nitro growing pains with the rest of us Tekno loving, nitro newbs! These 3-4 longgg months of winter in PA better go quick..i want a NB48!

Went to the track I use a ofna blue box. Wheel is to big and will not connect to the flywheel. Will need a new wheel or buy another starter box. :(

You may just need to move the whole car over (to the left) so the wheel fits better with our engine offset. We've tried several OFNA boxes, Hudy box, and the Losi Box (with mods) and all of them work good once set up correctly. What car did you have before?

Before I used a mugen Mbx6. It seems like it binds on the flywheel hole of the chassis before it will hit the flywheel.

Hope you get it figured out. I bought the same box. Let us know how it goes.

howse 12-13-2013 12:23 PM

i got it aligned as much as i could but it will hit the flywheel but not enough force to turn the motor over, anymore force and it just binds on the flywheel hole (chassis) to be fair it is a new motor and its pretty tight.

maybe i should just get the suggested box teknorc?

The box you linked to is what I use. A new engine is going to be trouble on any box unless you heat it up real good.

The only issue with the box linked above is that the motors burn out on 4s unless you put a Losi wiring harness on it (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...e-Hardware-Set).

The Losi box requires a lot of mods, but works really well. We're really impressed with the Hudy box, but it's expensive. I think the Hudy box would be my first choice.

steve blair 12-13-2013 03:14 PM

I recommend this box, it is amazing. I have broken in about 3-4 motors with it and had zero issues.

spunkysandoval 12-13-2013 05:15 PM

I'm using a losi RTR box I've had for a long time. It works perfect.

Here is a few pics of my build. Went very good. Only thing that I want to mention is the steering block screw hits the arm when turning at full droop. I just flipped the screw around and it was good to go. You could also fix it with a few washers, but i decide to just do this instead.

Also, incase anyone wants to run a steel flywheel, the serpent steel flywheel is a direct replacement. All of the tekno clutch parts can be used (screw pins, shoes, pins). You will need to use the serpent clutch bell though because the tekno bell uses a larger diameter bearing on the inside that doesn't fit inside of the serpent bell. Steel flywheel is good for smoothing out the power delivery and reducing flameouts.

Nice build, Isaac. I notice you didn't put the camber links in the stock recommended holes :). The long link in the front will make the car twitchy. We highly recommend starting with the stock setup for camber links.

We are also putting 2 degrees camber in front and 3 degrees in back. This tames it down a little more and improves corner speed.

There will be a lot of NB48's at CVRC this weekend - should be a blast! See you there!

Thanks for the link, Austin. I'll pick up one of those too and try it out.

Danny,

I'm very curious and maybe you have answered this is the past. Now that you're producing nitro kits, I think it would be a great I idea for Tekno to produce a starter box that will accomadate the buggy and truggy, is this possible?

Here is my first few laps with the nitro buggy. Went up in shock oil in the rear shocks after this run.

I use an OFNA blue as well. Had to pull the motor and reverse the rear plate to line it up. Works great now.
