So Aaron. I was running my OS CV-R on a dusty track for about ten minutes...when I went to take the temp, I noticed the air filter had come off. Of course, I shut the engine down and called it a day.

What precautionary measures should I take before I run it again??

Thanks

for me i would open up the WHOLE engine and give it a CLEANING session with NITRO CLEANER and a blast of air.... just to make sure no dirt is inside the engine.

make sure you got the engine diagram / manual with you before you open the guy up... unless you already know how to re-install it back together.

i would just take the head and backplate off, throw some nitro in there, let it drain out the back. then take off the carb and do the same up there. i wouldnt go any further than that if you didnt notice any ill effects.

nutfluff - 8 screws is all it takes to take the whole engine apart..give it a thorough flushing with fuel and WD-40 and it should be fine.

mop_iko - Let me know if you have any further questions.

you could do it the old fashioned way. go outside and do hole shots for 10 minutes. if you strip your spur gear its too loose

seriously though, loosen the motor mounts (or however its adjusted on your car) and push it in all the way to the tightest possible gear mesh. then just spin the rear wheels by hand until it works quietly and has just a tiny bit of play.

i dont know the paper test

Take a piece of paper and put it in between the spur gear and pinion gear, then slide the two gears together and tighten the motor mounts. If the gear mesh is correct, you'll be able to pull the paper out.

Yup, it's the same for anything. With 32 pitch gears (like what comes on a gas truck) you might have to fold the piece of paper in half, but it will work the same way.
