Anybody know how to get a hold of Greg B other than just PMing him?

Do you think that tray was designed with a new diff mount w/ piston type brakes in mind?:tire:

Imo doubtful.

Thank you for the feedback. Is your opinion based on which configuration provides better performance/lower CG or how the change would impact Losi's bottom line?:tire:

I agree with Integra. I'm not convinced the piston style brake system is the way to go. Losi breaks are awesome if you ask me. No need for a change there.;)

Trugsta 09-28-2011 04:36 PM

I also agree.
The breaks on the 8t.2 are fantastic and theres no need for them to be upgraded.
all the new tray does is ballance the buggy/truggy alittle better and improves steering from what I have heard and seen its a verry minor difference that some will preffer and others will preffer the origional tray Im in two minds about it right now I probably will get the new tray to see how it performs and if i dont like it I can always put the origional back in..
Im about to send Aaron waldron (from Amain) a message to see If I can pre order one.

I also believe the tray will help improve throttle servo life, because it will not be right by the hot motor, I would assume it would give you a straighter carb pull even without the split diff mount.

from what i was told from team Losi drivers, the servo life issue is due to not have the carb slide away from the center diff mount enough. under flex it would hit and put more strain on your servo, over time causing to fail. with the new tray, you will still have to have the carb at an angle to keep it from hitting the center diff mount... IMO, the center diff setup needs to be re-done more than servo tray.

JAMMINKRAZY 09-28-2011 06:58 PM

Dremel + sanding drum = Center diff mount re-done.:D Or you can buy the split diff mount and have all of your issues go away. I agree though, it would be nice to have a plastic version of the split diff mount standard in the kits. The aluminum mount is a nice piece of hardware, but it is a bit spendy.

The key is being patient/thorough with your linkage and end point setup. If you get everything right the throttle/break action is butter smooth and servos last a long time.

rear diff/ rear plate screws

Ok guys, I was looking to get some spare rear diff/rear hinge pin plate screws, the Losi exploded view shows part#losa6274 (5-40 x 1-7/8") screws, I punched in the # on A main and it comes up with this
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Head-Screws-2 1" long ain't gonna cut it, on the Losi parts house found this
http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...-40-X-1/Detail this is the correct lenght, but I don't want to pay $3 in shipping for $3 screws. Any idea as to why same part# but different contents.
Does anybody have any other source for hardware that won't charge an arm and a leg for stuff? 4C hobby only goes up to 1 1/2"

Honestly IMO the piston brakes are very good. That was one of the biggest things I liked about the Serpent was the brakes were VERY good tons of power plus no fade.

He answered my PM. Thanks Frank!

Thank you all. I have not yet tried piston brakes but they seem very popular with those that use them. I like my brakes as they are. Strong enough to stop. Gradual enough to correct errant flight.:tire: It seems to me the piston brakes would be more on/off sensitive. But, with all of the awesome technology constantly being developed you never know. At least with the new tray, the ability to offer it as an option is only one design change away.

BlueStreakOne 09-28-2011 10:23 PM

P.S. Losi is very good at offering drivers choices to suit a broad range of conditions and driving styles.

That doesn't make any sense. They are redesigning the tray, and the throttle servo is now not by the carb. All they have to do to get a straight pull is put the pivot mount for the throttle linkage more towards the rear of the car, and you get a straighter pull. There won't be the limitation of the throttle servo position anymore.
