anybody here run the losi quick change engine mount with a novarossi motor?

Well i got my nova P5 and when i wanted to run it with the QC engine mount it doesn't fit. the screw mounting tab on the nova engines are just a tad wider making it misaligned with the engine mount. this sucks!

i have 2 QC mount, one for buggy and one for truggy. sometimes i swap over the engine or use my other backup engine that has the top piece fitted. i have an OS28, Alpha, PR, and the 454 and it all fits the losi engine mount.

I heard some say that the King Headz ones fit but i hate having to buy a whole new sets just because of my nova engine. Does the king headz ones interchangeable with the losi ones?

Sorry guys just venting out.

Grind a bevel on the top inside of top plate mounting tabs. Had to do this to for my Go motors

The kingheadz plates dont fit the losi mount. All i run is the kingheadz mount they fit all motors that i ran.Or do grinding it doesnt take much, just make sure you take enough off before you tighten the motor down. i made that mistake my first time and it wasnt pretty.

Can anyone tell me the length of the rear center shaft without the coupler? Thanks

I had the quick change mounts, quickly got rid of them. You still need a ball end wrench to remove engine, and it's four more screws to come loose. I had a lot of problems with the engine coming loose while running.

You know Neo we have this fancy pancy product called Loctite, it prevents Screw's from wiggling loose.

Just through id throw a little humor out there....No harm buddy. ;)

Oh so that's what it's for.

It may be my past experience with the stuff that kept me from using it. Hat to put the chassis with engine mount in the oven for 30 minutes, and it was still a bear to get loose. That red stuff Losi puts in with the kits is some strong stuff.

Red loctite = bad. I only use the red on the shock shaft screws that hold the pistons on.

Blue loctite should be good. On the top motor mount screws I just use lock washers, still loctite the mount to the chassis.

and yes you have to do a little grinding on the Losi QC mount w/ Novarossi engine. a minor inconvinence compared to some of the stuff we have to do in this hobby like glue tires...lol And yes Integra AKA premounts are the bomb, but sometimes PL or JC or Brand X is just better!

:lol: i onced thought about using that stuff but found my blue locktite in the process so i passed. Glad i didnt now.

Thanks guys. Maybe I make the "hole" a little bigger. Shouldn't be too hard. Lol

actually you dont.when you put the upper mount on use lock washers or loc tit as suggested and tighten it with a ball hex or take the cooling head off(this is what i do), once the upper plate is on you shouldnt have to mess with it. . the outer screws you should be able to go straight down onto, these are the only ones youll be taking off anyway,i use reg. washers on those and just check to make sure their tight before every run

With the Kingheadz Quick Change top blocks the Novarossi cases need clearanced. I have had to do this to the last 3 Nova's I've purchased.

alexrckid 08-18-2011 07:37 PM

always found that to make the BLUE loctite even more effective on engine mounting screws just put some INTO the engine mount screw holds BEFORE dropping the engine into place. this way, the locktite runs the full length of the hole. but, they still break loose just fine when it's time to break it down. and, either which way, just rember to let the stuff dry before going out to race/bash........

Yup did all that, still had problems with it.

Put Loctite on the night before the race tighten
It down with Allen wrench. So far I haven't not had any
Screws back out doing this
