So mr 5k... Should it spin free or feel notchy? And what about the high spot shim it so it's smooth all the way around or is it ok to leave the high spot stick a little bit? I miss the 1.0 days of no shims. Just put it togeather and go.

Check the shimming on your rear diff ring and pinion. You want it to be shimmed tight, but not locking up. My guess is something changed in the shimming when you were doing maintenance. Just changing diff oils shouldn't make it sound different. I would check the shimming before running it any more. You don't want to do any damage to the R&P if it is shimmed too loose or too tight.;)
Please see attachment. There was in fact a problem with the rear gearbox. I had shimmed correctly according to the Losi manual. But for some reason the Flanged Bearing(marked with blue dot) which resides on the Diff housing, would not fit properly :( I have no clue why this happened all of a sudden. It seems like the dimensions of the "tube(marked with blue dot)" on which the bearing sits has expanded or something. I had to use a hammer to knock it all the way in, close to the housing. Before it was sitting flush and made the R&P sit too tight with the standard shimming. I removed a .25mm shim and hammered the bearing in place, the wierd sound has now gone. I have ordered a new diff housing as there must be something wrong with my current as the bearing won't fit anymore. So this will only be a temporary solution until the new one arrives. Thanks again :) /Jim |

Well it was my 3rd anniversary last week. All my wife wanted was cash to shop so that made it easy for me. This is what she got me:D
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...x/DSCF6356.jpg It is not new but in mint shape, Came with some nice upgrades and spares as well. The motor and servos where mine though just got the roller. spent the last 9 hours taking it apart, cleaning, checking and good going over. The only thing I found was one shock shaft had a little bend. The lhs had already closed so I tweaked it good enough to use tomorrow. Got to love hobby wifes;) |
Looks good!

Shock protectors for losi

I thought I’d ask as either way I couldn’t see any problem in running stock losi shock rubber boots and shock socks at the same time.
Will this reduce the action of the 4 shockers ? |

I've been running the 1.0 housings and diffs in my 2.0T since I've owned it, which has been since July I think. ZERO problems after five 3-day weekend races and a couple one day club races.
sounds, good i dont know why other people that have problems with the shimming dont run the 1.0 diff cases and diffs. i guess they dont know that they can do that. |

Will this reduce the action of the 4 shockers ? ive ran the socks on my 1/10 shocks and if anything they cause a bind your better off just running rubber boots. |
