Red chassis
Hey guys I'm driving associated right now and I like it. I'm new its my first one. I bought the RTR and didn't know till later that it isn't the same as the kit. I'm buying a new truggy next spring and was considering several models including the 8T 2.0 and was wondering.... What are the differences between and the RTR and the roller in Losi land. I don't really need another RTR now but with all it comes with it seems crazy not to go that route if your buying a Losi. However I had a couple Losi drivers at the last race I attended tell me to avoid the red chassis but offer no explanation. Anyone care to elaborate?

Next spring?? Man thats like 9-10 months away. a lot can change between now and then. The roller is worth the $$ if you want to race. If not go for the RTR. Main differences are shock towers, shock shafts, chassis and I am sure I missed some parts. But with the roller you get to load it up how you want instead of buying the RTR engine and electronics that you are going to junk anyway.

Frank I'm talking more like 5-6 months away by say February so I'm set up for spring... I hear rumors of stuff from OD and Xray by then but who knows how true those are... I may buy a "CE" version of my truck cuz despite Token picking on me it has to be competitive.... that's Maifields platform....
Alright Token I'll do some homework I was just hoping for a short answer like... my truck had composite big bores instead of threaded and a 3mm chassis instead of 4.... etc.etc.etc. All the same thanks for the responses... Rich |

The Red chassis and shock towers just represent that the truck is an RTR. No RTR is as competitive as a Race Roller no matter what you do to it. If you want a RTR to be as competitive as a Race Roller, you might as well spend the initial money to get a Race Roller. I will say that Losi has the best RTRs out of everyone else, but if you already have a radio, servos, etc. You are best off getting a kit.

Great RTR or not, it's nothing like the roller. If you want the best, go with the roller. You'll be happy you did.;)

Just curious about it. I'm looking at several models. Wanted to do my homework thats all.... Yeah I kinda jumped in and without having any equipment an RTR was my only choice. I've beat this subject to death but if I had to do it over I would have bought the Losi, not because the brand, but for what you get with it. Not saying I wouldn't drive Losi just saying theres nothing wrong with my AE either IMO. Thanks for your responses. I've been asking in all the threads to get some opinions. I wish I would have done that to begin with.

Question: how often or at what point do you all install new throttle and brake linkage? Mines have some slop in it. |
Another question similar to Token's
Do you guys change the ball ends in the rear (ones that connect to the shock tower). Mine are showing a lot of slop. Was thinking about replacing it but thought I should ask to see what is good. |
I change them when they get sloppy. I can tolerate a little bit but I don't like when it's excessive. The best slop eliminator has been using the x ray wheel hexes they are still tight and good like when I 1st put them on.
