Hi
are you running more front or rear brake?
Some guys say more front brake and some say more rear brake...

madweazl 04-02-2010 01:28 PM

I try to keep the brakes as neutral as possible. Some like a little rear brake to help the car rotate

cdbias 04-02-2010 02:37 PM

It's supposed to be around 70% rear and 30% front. Too much front brake will make the car push under braking.

On tight/technical track I will sometimes take all of the front brake out. Makes the car a little harder to drive but you gain tons of rotation.

I'm having a weird problem with the losi flywheel when mounting it up with a Ninja JX. For some reason it feels real tight when I spin it. I put a washer behind the collet and that tight feel still remains. Any of you guys encounter this with the Ninjas?

On all my other engines the flywheel is fine.

no not the centre shaft the front left and right shafts.
hmmm its got me puzzeld to . i have replaced everthing on the front end. bulkhead, arms, drive shafts, bearings, rebuilt cv's,spindles and carriers,i even put the option drive cups in which seem to be about 1mm longer than standard.
its only at full droop and the right side is the worst.
the only thing i can come up with so far is the new bulkhead to 0 shims on the diff and the origanal had 2 in it but surely shims couldnt be the problem?
i wil post again when i figure it all out.

What exactly is binding? Can you see where something is binding? Is it only with that one flywheel or all losi flywheels? I would try another flywheel and collet. Maybe there is something wrong with the flywheel?? I have never seen a problem like this on any engine. The only thing I can think of that could cause this internally in the engine is a problem with the engine bearings or a defect in the crankshaft machining, but if it is the same on 2 engines I doubt there is any defect in the engines.:weird:

anyone ever take a worn dogbone pin out and replace it with a new pin from another axle? my center drive shaft pin (the part that goes in the diff cup) is worn pretty flat. i have a race tomorrow and was wondering if i can take a pin from a spare cv axle and hammer it in to the center drive shaft. thanks

Yeah, I saw that one guy post about it a couple of times, but it just seemed like an isolated issue. Wasn't his issue with the rear shafts?:weird:

I've tried both the steel and alum flywheels with the same effect. The alum flywheel came off a V-Spec that felt just fine. I know there is nothing wrong with the engines since one was just broken-in and the other has about 1 gallon with new bearings. I'm using an old collet, so that may be the problem. I'll pick a new one up tomorrow.

Its really weird. I don't see any indications that the collet is making contact with the rubber shield on the front bearing.

It can be pressed out and a new one installed. I have a chain breaker for motorcycle chains that pressed it right out; well, not quite. The pin on my breaker is too large in diameter to press it all the way out but they sell kits that have various sizes that will work. I suppose a hammer and punch pin/press would work..

Absolutely Not on the Hammering of 1 pin into the next.....but a Yes on Re Pinning with new pins....you need a particular chain breaker or a specific tool built for the job, but it can be done...your in a bind...you might need to pony up and get a new shaft and look at a chain breaker as the next thing you get.;)
