Get it modded and talk to the modder and tell him what you want it to do. Mark at powerhouse always takes the time to talk tk me on the phone and answer any questions so he can dial the engine in to my liking. I am sure Brian will do the same. You will be happy in the end with a modded engine. They are showing up more and more at my
local tracks. Guys try to hide them but you can tell the modded from stock.

i have talked to him, and he is willing to work with me, i am thinking of sending him an old +4 that way if i dont like it o well, it has no compression anyway

But after i called horizon, they are sending me those parts. Overall happy with customer support, no ?'s asked just sending me new parts.

But this whole carburator thing is killing me!! the operations manual says that the starting point for the losi 454 H/S and L/S needles is 2 1/2 turns out. but when i set the low speed at that setting and start it, it wants to rev way up. so i fatten I up due to not very much smoke. i'm sure its just new guy frustration:weird::confused::weird: but I haven't been to my local track to talk to anyone yet. Any of you guys race @ pleasant hill, MO?

Any thoughts? thanks Dave

Ps to make this post longer, I was on my fourth tank of fuel last night and my truck just stopped and Idled till it died. I think I smoked My throttle servo:flaming::flaming: I am still reading this thread and know that this is an known issue but come on, i dropped almost a grand and haven't even jumped it yet.:flaming::flaming::flaming::flaming: Do I call Horizon or bit the bullet and buy a different one?

Even though Steve Hale is sponsored by Jammin/Futaba/O.S. Engines and more he will be more than willing to help you out. I believe his outdoor track isn't up and running yet but let me post a link where more people might help. We'll be at P-Hill for the RC Pro race at the end of April but that's a ways off. I actually think there is a first of the year race day in 2-3 weeks I'd like to go to as well. But check out this link for us Kansas/Nebraska/Missouri/Oklahoma racers. http://www.heartlandrc.com/ http://www.heartlandrc.com/forumdisplay.php?54-Real-R-C <<<<This one is for Steve's track REAL RC in Pleasant Hill, Mo.

Hmmmm. I just noticed the whole web page has been updated. I haven't been on there for a couple months but it's an active site with info about all forms of racing an local places to race.

RTR's are sometimes more trouble than they are worth because you end up replacing stuff anyway. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a couple of good servos. They dont have to be the high dollor 200 buck ones just a good hitec will do fine. something with at least 200 oz of torque for the steering and 130 for the throttle.

Engine tuning can be very frustrating. The best thing to do is take it to your local track and ask for help. It took me 2 years to learn and some days I am still off. I can tune other peoples engines but I am never satisfied with mine. Patience and time is what it takes. Read the tuning bible at the top of this thread it will help alot.

[QUOTE=Xrayfan;7182166]

well what do you expect when you come in a losi thread and talk shit? I think Xray is overpriced junk that you can't get parts for in 99% of shops. Believe me I am well over 12 and most likely could out hang you any day of the week punk:ha:

Xrayfan 03-24-2010 06:17 PM

Yes Mr. i sleep with my losi

Cant say enough good about both of my POS RTRs. Been extremely competitive in both classes at multiple tracks in the expert class. Buggy only has the RTR chassis left but the truggy is straight out of the box with the exception of the electronics.

I did have a shock shaft pull out of the end the first time I put the buggy on the track but that has been the only issue (stupid me for not checking them). The truggy on the other hand has been flawless and I didnt check a damn thing

Frank L 03-24-2010 06:22 PM

Man thats a lot of $h!t I better get my boots on...

I am getting very good run times out of my Clockwork JL .21. Probably around 12 minutes in my buggy and slightly less in the truggy. Neal tells me he has a new "hot" setup for the JL and truggy which I hope to order in a few weeks.

I had a pro take a few laps in my truggy today and it definitely shows that the Losi with the Clockwork JL .21 can be nasty fast! Of course he would probably be fast driving the track with a Tamiya Hornet.
