I tried a grp .28 earlier this year and it was just too much not to mention the horrible run times. I run an os speed engine now and it is the best little engine for this truck. I also have a highly modded grp .21 that I pull out on special occasions. A good .21 race engine is what this truck wants. Os vspec, ninja, nova +4 or toro or my fav the speed is pleanty of power to scoot this truck around and you get the fuel mileage benifit of 9-10 mins. I usuLly pit at 8 mins instead of 5-6 with a .28

i have got the new odonnell engine in my truggy didnt like at first but mixed with the correct pipe 2047 im now getting 10-11 min run time i was very surprised with this  cheap and reliable

I currently have the .21 os vspec, is this a sufficient mill to compete?

I'll be new to nitro when I start, I have a few runs with my friends T-Maxx so I have an idea at least

Would a

Losi's 1/8-scale 8IGHT 2.0 Ready-to-Run Nitro Buggy

or

1/8-scale 8IGHT-T 2.0 RTR Nitro Truggy

be a good place to start? I have been looking around and I do not have the parts to make a kick and this RTR seems really good.

Thoughts?

Truggy is like $150 more, but I read it is easier to drive and performs better?

the losi 8 t 2.0 rtr will be a great place to start the kit looks good :)

mattwoodcraft 07-21-2009 09:16 PM

both buggy and truggy are awsome cars but it all depends what you would like the truggy is much easier to dve than a buggy ... :) truggy racing is good fun

Which one is more durable? And which is more popular usually? (In your area or nationally?)

My area it seems buggy has more people that attend

In my area some tracks have more truggys and some have more buggys. Trggys are more forgiving but it's all up to you. No mater which you choose eventually you will own both. The losi rtr kits are an excellent place to start you get quality equipment that let's you compete with most other guys out there. Sure there are always going to be guys with 2k trucks but the losi rtr is the only rtr that I know of that will allow you to keep up and maybe even beat them. It all boils down to the driver. The bottom line is he losi rtr comes with a 2.4 radio, descent servos (you will replace these 1st) a descent engine, a starter box and a chassis that has proven itself on th track. name another rtr that comes with a fully loaded starter box. There isn't one. Another plus is that most tracks and shops carry parts. You can't beat the losi rtr.
