Besides I guess their over $50 to buy those 2 motors alone... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVCL4&P=Z

The Losi lid is smaller than the Ofna box, and this answers another one of your questions. The Losi box is too small for the Ofna 775 motors. You end up spending almost just as much buying 2 775 motors and Deans wire ect to do the Losi box as it would just buying the Ofna Truggy box.:nod:

You can take the Ofna mount with motors and put it in the Losi box with some modifications.

I as well have had my losi box kill two sets of losi motors, I love my box but the twin 550's just don't seem to be able to cut it. I bought 2 ofna 770's that are used in the blue box, along with the belt and motor plate, with very little dremmel work to accommodate the losi wheel and drilling two holes on the underside of the box, I now have one killer losi box. Will start my right with out a struggle, and the charge on my 12v that used to only last a race if I am lucky now can be used for the full day of pratice and race day with out a charge. If you guys are interested I can do a write up on the box mod, and it is cheaper then buying the Ofna box.

on a side note, I love the look of the new 2.0 however was not impressed with the new style of mudguards, I like the older v1 style that protect the components, anyone else use the v1 mud guards on the 2.0? I will try to post some picts up of it later.

I stand corrected, I guess the 770's will fit.

I would like to see your write up on this! I recently replaced the Losi motors with 2 Traxxas 12t titan motors and although the power is alot better than the Losi motors its not as fast or as powerful as the Ofna truggy box.

Please let us know how you completed the mod? I will either try this mod or buy a new Ofna truggy box and dremel the top to accomodate the losi brackets as I need those to easily start my 8ight-T 2.0 and 8ight buggy.

Yeah I would take 2 used ofna motors and all that if i could get them cheap like that. And yeah I would mount them up that way too. I love the way my truggy fits on the box to start it..

Hours of mods with the dremel. It was difficult but well worth it in the end. One thing I would have done differently is move the plates to the left a little bit. I mounted them dead center and had to move the wheel, which works too but since you are drilling for the plates it would be easier to move the plates. It can be done and it will start any Losi 8ight.

good idea frank...Ill keep that in mind if my Losi box ever fails me again. ;) or if jld is genuine in having his top plate modded.

You don't have to modify the top plate unless you just have to have it like the Losi Box. I didn't mod my top plate and it works just fine. I did move the wheel closer to the center of the box though.

and why wouldn't you want one of the most convenient starter boxes on the market able to switch between bug and trug in a matter of seconds compared to most any other box which needs less pegs or you need to move pegs around...And Or Stock 2 top plates with different peg config's.

Yeah I am and yes I will be sending it to you to get modded. I am not even going to mess with getting motors and all that to mount in my box. Is this a good way to go then ..
OFNP1244 starter box
Deans wet noodle wire 12 guage
LOSB9821 Losi 14.8V 2200mAh 4S LiPo 20C Starter Box Battery
Put the losi top plate on the ofna box

rookie042 05-19-2009 06:53 AM

I will get the write up done today and post it up tonight it is not difficult at all and proves to make a great box, works for all my v1 rigs and the 2.0. Strong enough that I used it to break in my Nova Rossi sb. and I used a automotive relay to make sure that the voltage is correct so that there is no overload on the motors as it is 12v direct to each motor. and after the motors, plate, belt and rely total cost was 43 dollars.

you need the losi top plate plastics ...not the top plate itself.

Oh ok, well either way I am doing 2 boxes. I now have an ofna one coming with 2 lipos and I will have this box so all I have to do is get more plastic and do the other one the way the other dude said for $43 LOL Never hurts to have a back-up on a race weekend. I will do the losi box later when I can afford it. But when the other one gets here I will send you whatever you need to do the mod.

Frank's the one who did up his box.....I was just implying i Could do it...as Frank though it was a little difficult and took a little time.....im more then willing to do it but for what its worth its not hard.....you just need to measure out the losi top plate and transfer over the cut out's onto the ofna top plate....then bolt everything together and your done....but if you really need me to....well...im sure we could work something out...but shipping time sucks up here if you didn't know that.

LOl I have shipped stuff all around the planet. I am not that good with a dremel sometimes so I would rather have a professional do it LOL Or I will be jumping in the car and making a trip to Franks place to get his.. Either way i will have a good box before this is over.

jldjlaudio 05-19-2009 08:20 AM

So Frank how we doing this. We can do it the easy way or the easy way. You can just ship it or I can meet ya half way and beg you to give it up! I'm good with either!
