it like to rev to the moon and dose not come back down. on the box. i cant give it gas at all .

dirtdog 09-30-2012 06:52 PM

it looks like drakes standard setup does not use the shorter camber link hole that is available. Wouldnt that help lock the rear down more? Shorter camber link?

Its all in the Tune and Understanding the basics behind what needle setting's do what, Plain and simple.

Nick, are you gonna try and make it the the Nitro Challenge this year?

iVTEC4LIFE 09-30-2012 08:48 PM

Yeah, I'm gonna get the turbo kit, but only after I've blown thru all this 20% fuel. I only have half a gallon left. Until then I really needed new plugs. Ran it today. First time it's seen dirt. Plugs worked just fine. I just need to fine tune the motor. Idles for about 30-40sec and just dies. I'd like it to just idle no problems til I give it gas. So next time it's all tuning and no fun.

These are cabureted two stroke race engines...and not fuel injected four strokes for daily driving. Keep that in mind. They are not designed to idle that long. Plain and simple. When the fuel is not being used, by throttle application, the inside of the engine case builds up with extra fuel. At that point it is flooded. And as soon as you do apply throttle it stalls.

That will happen with every single one of these engines from RTR up to the $400 engines. If the engine is allowed to idle 30 seconds or so then you gotta be real easy on throttle till the thing clears out, which would be only a few pulls of the throttle. Then after clearing it out you can romp on it.

Hope this all makes sense. Just trying to help. I know this sounds kind of mean but it's not intended that way.

air8 has the perfect responce to this. I started this year with the same truck (thats change allot now, addiction fever) But really good advice is that, there is no contest for who can idle the longest. The engine is designed to run out, not sit and idle . Good luck, and have fun

Great tips from Puddin. For the trucks, the one about longer screws with nuts on the shock tower bolts is almost a must for hard core bashers/ hard core wreckers like me. I have seen my shock towers, both front and rear ( more so the rear) come loose after lonng runs and did this. Never again had any problems with them since. Glad to see its makeing its way around.

iVTEC4LIFE 10-02-2012 08:06 PM

Cool. I just layered my tank in heat shielding. Also added one of those exhaust gas coolers.... Couldn't tell if it worked. Didnt really pay much attention to actual time while I was playing.
