SC8 tire options

What tires are available that will fit stock rims on the SC8.
One style is the Gen 1 Slash 2.2 / 2.2" wheels/ tires. These will not fit the SC8 wheels. Factory SC8 wheels are 2.2 / 3.0" , and you will want the second gen tires from PL to fit your wheels. I think they make both the Bow Ties and the Switches in sizes that fit our trucks. I found the foams that come with the tires to be a little soft for my liking, so I got some of the firmer "closed cell" V3 foams from PL to put in my tires. Technically they are marketed for 2nd Gen Slashes and SC10s, but all have the same size wheels. SC8s are much heavier, hence my going with a stiffer foam.;) --Glenn |
sorry for bringing up an old thread
But i just changed my diff fluid to 7k-20k-500 ive read this whole thread through the week. it is awesome full of info thank you guys for that. im hoping i didn't screw up my choice of fluids but.
1.(front) but from what i read thicker fluid in the front better steering in corners and better stability into corners during braking. 2.(center) thicker fluid you get more all-wheel drive effect better acceleration increases on power steering (reduces understeer) 3.(rear) thinner fluid increases cornering traction and increases steering into corner with that im hoping i have a easy steering machine our track is full of turns i still need to do shocks but for now they seemed to do well..i love my SC8 tell me what you guys think of my fluid change. thanks mike |

Mine turned up friday, but was still rebuilding my Losi 8T 2.0 ready to sell it.
I bought the SC8e as thought it a better option to convert to nitro, especially as I wanted a clear shell. Got front and rear end done, and put 7k in the front diff, and 5k in the rear diff, and once the 46t spur arrives will be putting 10k in the centre. Bought a couple of second hand bits like engine mount and carbon servo tray and centre diff mount, and just placed order today for tank & mounts, 17CB, 46T spur, remote glow plug and mount, plus couple of other bits, so hopefully have up and running by end of week, bar painting of the shell. Just need to think of shell design in keeping of my usual colour scheme which normally consists of blue and yellow chequers like on a U.K. police car, but need to do it somehow in a truck style |
anyone have an sc8 nitro or e to sell pm me please!

Has any one tryed light oils like 5,5,3 or similar what was the out come.... I let some truggy drivers have a drive of the SC8 on the weekend at a club day and they both recon to drop the oils when at the moment im running 7,7,5....
|
Well i got my SC8 up and runnig finally. I couldnt belive how much fun it was driving up down the street. When i do that with my buggy I get bored after a couple passes.
I just put 7-7-3 in the diffs, going to the track tomorrow and see how that does. |
I swapped my composite shocks off mine for a set of used threaded ali big bores.
Any recommendations for set up on the shocks? Springs appear bronze colour, and off top of my head, guy had 30/35 weight oil in them. Sure I read people were going heavier in the oil, 50 or something? |
These trucks are fun to drive. You can feel that they are heavy in the air. Does anyone else have issue controling it when it jumps? Also it is very nose heavy, i made sure the front breaks were not draging but didnt help much. Is this common or do i just need to keep tweaking my setup ?
|
The stock setup seemed to nose dive on me also. I've made several changes to my setup to get it to handle the way I like which I posted a few pages back. And as I'm sure you know staying on the throttle off the face of the jump helps also.
|
Thanks i'll go check out your setup. It did help keeping on the throttle but for the longer jumps it would almost always land nose down, then do a couple rolls. IM sure with more practice i'll get the hang of those jumps. The whole time i spend out there i onlt drove 2 tanks on the buggy and about 6-7 on the SC8. I hope my buggy dosent get jealous.

guys.. i was running my 8 last night....basically tearing up the grass and hitting a real small jump..........one of the clips in my rear shock popped free and was captured in the shock boot.......i lost my shock oil....mess... do these clips pop out often on Associated's shocks???........they seem like a real cheap clip......is my droop to low from the factory?....ie.......did the suspension pull on the shock shaft and pop the clip???.........ideas..???.....i remember the OLD RC10 shocks used a small circlip in the bottom of the shock to hold in the o-rings and spacers........are there any properly sized circlips that could be used to replace the stock wire clips???.........

Taylorm, not sure which retainers you have but there is an improved version of the original wire clips that are significantly stronger:
