Default Help

Hi guys,

I would like to know the reasons why a car goes speeding all of the sudden without control.

My 8eight buggy has an ACE servo that it seems to be working fine, HT batteries which were charged just before a 30 min race, and this happened within the first 15 minutes. The carb does not seem to be sticking up. I use Spektrum transmitter and receiver.

This run away happened once last week and then during a race today. The guy at the pit told me he thought that it was low battery, but we accelerated and brakes and it looked fine.

I don't have any way to measure the voltage of the battery since it is a lipo.

Any suggestions will be mostly appreciated.

Regards

Check to see if you have a loose wire or something. If you do, it could be loosing power due to the vibrations when your throttle is open. Loss of power will keep the failsafe on the Spektrum Radio from working. It's only there in case somehow you loose signal.

Is there a dis-advantage when using an analog servo on the Throttle and Brake?

Also is there a dis-advantage when using an analog servo on the sterring?

What are the popular analog servo for T\B and also for sterring.

I will be using reg. Rx packs (not Lipo) so I am looking at analog servos for longer run times on the Rx pack.

Whats the biggest Rx pack that will fit in the 8ight...?

I really would like to sell my Orion lipo charger and my LRP power supply if I can get away with running analog servos.

I know digital servos are a must for on-road but do you really need your servo to be 100 percent accurate when your buggy is hitting small bumps on the back straight.............

yes. just because its offroad doesn't mean you don't need precision in your car. i personally wouldn't run anything but digitals and go one step further by running futaba hrs. just gives you a better feeling to your car imo.

i would even stick with the lipo just to go even one more step and make your servos the exact same voltage the start and end of the race.

i use the protek 2000mah lipo pack. you can also use standard 2500mah "aa".

Ah...I just saw the new brushless Futaba servos. They seem to fit the bill.....

Do they make a cheap lipo wall charger or do you have to have a $175 charger and a $100 power supply in your tool box?

Thanks.....

How much torque do you need in your sterring and T\B servos...

I don't know about any exact numbers, but in 1/8 scale torque would be more important than speed in comparison to 1/10 scale due to the extra weight. I personally run two Z9000T's in my 8ight and have no complaints.

speed for steering and torque for throttle.

128oz of torque is plenty for steering in a buggy. the 9000s is what i am running currently and it is plenty.

i believe 250-300 is good for throttle/brake. i like the high torque ones they seem to take the abuse a little better.

you don't need 150 charger. the triton jr is 75.00 and does everything. you don't even need that much. you can just get a generic wall charger for 20.00 from ht batteries.

don't know if i'm the only one wondering this, but why are all the losi 8ight's that are for sale, selling super cheap?

seems that you can get a great or barely use 8ight for like 350 bucks, some people are selling their car with extra stuff too for that same price.

i was wanting to sell my 8ight with one complete gallon of race time, and another gallon on the car doing on break in's on two different motors. plus selling with car about 185 dollars of new parts. about 135 dollars of that being unopened pkgs of losi parts. also throwing in newer 1600 rx pack, and 2 day old m3 crimefighters.

seems that i can only get like 400 bucks for everything, i would rather just keep my car to look at it, or use it as a loaner car to someone wanting to try 1/8 scale buggy

anybody else thought about selling their car, but not getting much for it?

why are you selling it? I think theres alot of people who either love the 8ight or hate it. It does suit a different driving style, but any good driver can adapt to it.

as for crappy resale? It's like any american made vehicle, It's still a good car, but it just doesn't fetch much in todays market. That's why my next Real car is going to be a honda, I love my chevy, but it's worth nothing if I were to sell it.

^^ Why, you are driving the winningest buggy at the current time already, i really dont think you will find better at the moment for your dollars than the 8ight, not to mention the parts are easier and cheaper to find than both other cars you have mentioned. Keep your 8ight man.

And to the dude asking about the servos there is nothing wrong with analogue servo`s, the difference isnt as noticeable as people think, i have only just started using digital servos in my electric cars and i can say it makes stuff all difference, i run FASST on my Futaba 3PM system so it has plenty of speed and acuracy and i still cant really tell the difference,,,
