What size motor do most run in this on 4s. Per using truggy tire's what would be best regarding KV and pinion size.

i was watching the tekno mt410 vid

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7HdAAC3QHoc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

i realized that there is a longer truggy base monster truck that had a team associated rival body
the vid show a truck with a similar paintjob at the start, but it is not the same body

All the parts swap onto the truggy chassis for use with the longer wheelbase bodies (tekno calls this out the list of compatible bodies on their website).

I would stay below 1700kv (the diff holder/motor mount on the MT410 has a lot more room to gear up than down). If you want to use monster tires (even on 4s), I'd stay under 1300kv.

Thank you Vintage 1,

So stay below 1700KV if running 4s with truggy tire's and if I want to run monster tire's on 4s stay under 1300kv. I gather from the info you provided that I could run truggy tire's as well as monster with 1300kv or smaller.

Thank you again V1 I appreciate the help

I run 2200kv HW combo with 4S and shockwaves. Tekno told me that is one of the best combos with a 15T

5.5" truggy tires and a 25t pinion gear will give you a 40mph top speed (assuming no ballooning) on 4s. For racing, I'd expect that to be plenty fast, if you're bashing, I'd recommend the added efficiency of 6s if you want to go faster than that anyways.

vettehigh, tekno recommended a 2200kv for 6s when I ordered mine (back before it was actually released), but I knew from experience with temps on a castle 1515 in my eb48.3 that 2200kv would be too high (even with the 4.44:1 diffs in the mt). I see that with 6" shockwaves, 15t pinion, and a 2200kv on 4S, you should be geared for right around 45 mph (with no ballooning, I wouldn't be surprised if these balloon given their width but I'm basing that on my experience with 3.8 trencher x's which are taller). What temps are you hitting on the motor?
Without running this setup, I'd expect the motor probably gets in the 140s-150s F (which is at the mid to upper end of fine and isn't going to hurt it), much hotter for long stretches of driving in grass or loam, cooler for long stretches on pavement or hardpack. My experience is based on the heavy trencher Xs, so I'd expect you to have somewhat lower temps for the same speed.

(I'm making my guesses/recommendations based on melting a 1380kV tppower 4050 [based on rotor length so about a 4080 based on normal can measurements] on 4s with 6.5" trencher x's with a 14t pinion [geared for 28mph but was running about 40 on the gps due to tire ballooning], I assume lighter tires will put less of a load on the motor for the same speed though).

Just to get some opinions; how do you think mudslingers would fare on the MT410? I cant imagine that the Traxxas Summit has a more rugged drivetrain than the MT410. But I would love to see the MT410 in Mudslinger rubber!

Whats the point of so big tires? Also your body is cracked in the rear.

TruggyCola 09-28-2017 02:19 PM

How do you like them Chainsaw? How are the flips and braking? I only ask because of the shorter wheelbase. I enjoyed the Mudslingers on my Summit immensely. Maybe the longer chassis could control these larger and heavy tires?

I had these sitting in a box for many years....just pulled them out to put up pictures for you. I ran them after I took the pics for 15 minutes or so. Actually handled better than I thought. Super easy flips ....easiest self righting ever. But I don't see myself using them much, there just too big and heavy. They make the MX38 Badlands look tiny.

Thanks for testing them out and showing me what they look like! The MX38s are my other choice of tire. Maybe the Duratrax Six Packs mounted on PL Desperado wheels.

Haha they look huge! Glad to know at least these are too big and i don't have to spend money buying more parts

I have a set of proline shockwaves and Arrma backflips for my MT. The backflips may be slightly heavier but their larger diameter makes the vehicle more adjustable in the air, easier to self right, etc. Truck is more stable and less adjustable in the air with the low profile shockwaves as you would guess. Hard to pick just one set of tires, they make the truck drive quite different so kinda fun to switch once in a while.

You don't have to tell me!:) I have at least a dozen different sets of tires that fit this truck(along with my other 1/8 scale truggies and monsters). I'm a tire addict.
