Default About half way through...

Ya know, built about a half dozen or so Tekno kits. This chassis is stunning. Fitment, materials, manual, quality, quality, quality.

Can't imagine how one would break this thing, it is just stupid over-built, and yet the drive train is buttery smooth and efficient.

Well done Tekno...can't wait finish it up.

For those whom have received their's, Congrats!

Selecting a proper tire for this MT is key. If you want to have all the Arcobatic abilities. A Proper MT tire is at order.

If you want minimal ballooning and a more nimble tire then 3.8 Badland's will do. But I don't recommend them over a taller, wider MT tire. Only because this short chassis will be very controllable in the air and the MT tires will help with in air control.

But Just for reference for those interested in the Badlands 3.8. Here is a quick Night run and standing back flip attempts. I achieved them, but would have been achieved easier with taller, wider MT tires.

You picked a perfect Truck to get started in the MT Bashing segment. It's so much fun and this is a promising Truck for sure.

Default front bumber

I don't have wheels purchased yet, but is this front bumper more cosmetic than anything? It's the same as is on the SCT410. With larger wheels, I question whether one couldn't forgo the bumper if you wanted to and just cover the A-Block with the two options that Tekno offers for the buggy.

Bumper is a nice option, adds scale and works well on the SC. More experienced MT folks (which I have none) comment to one way or the other? I noticed the ARRMA Kraton sports a simple A-Block buggy bumper.

I believe TBONE Racing has a bumper for the SCT and will for this MT. If you Notice in the video I posted. I'm using a buggy bumper. It still allows me to do front and back flips without getting in the way. Still provide protection if need be.

I recommend check to see if they make one for the buggy.

...and an other MT410 kit will do its way to Switzerland, rocking the Alps ;-)

- Tekin RX8 / 2000kv Truggy motor (existing, jobless, from Mugen Truggy)
- Tekno 16t/18t pinions
- Tekno alu servo horn
- Tekno universals
- Tekno delrin shock pistons (8x1.3) & delrin shock guides
- PL Badlands MX38
- PL 1972 Chevy body

I have a Mugen Truggy with the HW XR8 Plus / HW 4274 G2 combo; before the Mugen was powered by the Tekin combo. Personally I like the HW combo more then the (still great) Tekin combo (smoother, hw esc build quality is stunning, switch is WAY better); but here (MT410) I think it is a REALLY tight fit. @teeforb great combo, really! Plz tell us if there is enough space to plug in the sensor cable.

Hi guys, I see shimming up the motor mount would also require shimming up a chassis brace, which might not be the route I would want to go - so can anyone comment on whether there is enough space between spur and chassis to accommodate bigger 45T (requires only .5 mm more space) or 48T (1.5mm more) spurs, please?

For anyone interested, I made some first thoughts initial gearing chart; I used the 40/9 diff ratio from manual (website says 40/10, but probably typo):

I'll probably end up choosing a motor somewhere in the ~1600kv range and Badland 3.8 size (~150 mm) kinda tires, but also included 1. the whopping 176 mm diameter Badlands MX38 to get an impression of the impact and 2. a 1800kv motor for reference. I don't intend to buy new batteries for this, hence the 6-8S - and 4S is for minis anyway .

With the ~150mm tires, I think I'd get away with running ~1600 kv with 13/44 gearing, even on 8S for occasional berserko mode, but to be honest, I have no clue about gearing for MT stuff . So what do you guys think would be a good starting point gearing-wise, something 40-45 mph (no-load wheel-speed) for standard use?

Thanks!

I wouldn't want to shim it up anyways because the motor mount has a cutout in the chassis for it to sit in. There's not enough clearance on the bottom or top for a larger spur. You could technically make it work but it would require cutting a slot in the chassis and raising the center diff top plate. I think 40-45 mph would be a good starting point with a small pinion. Having huge tall monster truck tires that also add 1-2 lbs. of rotating mass will definitely require using a different setup than you see other people using with their Tekno truggy/buggy/SCT. For all the people building one of these, I would check your estimated final speed using the 4.44 diff ratio this truck has. You may need to go down in kv depending on your setup.

Thanks 0verkill! Turns out gearing chart I posted earlier is rubbish anyway, with min pinion size 14T:

I haven't run a motor that needs to geared that low in a long time and I can't remember for sure if the 12 fits. A 13 will (with the old mount) and gives you the same top speed as a 1900kv motor geared 18/44. A 14 tooth is a little faster than a 1900 geared 19/44.

Basically means when running 6S, the possibility of 176 mm tires with the 14/44 minimum gearing translates into max ~1300 kv for minimal of ~43 mph no-load, which might be a bit higher in reality with those huge tires ballooning and compensating for RPM drop under load (real world example: http://www.rctech.net/forum/13684717-post7.html).

Finished the core part of the kit. Shocks are next.

Got the trenches in today. Those things are larger than expected.

Ordered mine by will not be available until late November which hopefully shouldn't be too long from now.

Meanwhile I've been inspired to run my RC8.2-MT as it is similar to this. Just to get an idea of wheel and tire combos to use on my Tekno-MT. I had posted a video earlier with the 3.8 Badlands and while it is nimble and great to handle. It does not offer the same silly acrobatic maneuvers as a proper Monster Truck Tire would.

I hope it's no offense to anyone that I'm posting these videos. Just want to help with examples of what the Tekno-MT may act like with a similar setup. I'm also running 100k in the Center Diff.

What pinion to run with a 2250kv?

Default backordered...

Tekno now shows backordered on their site - where I ordered from. Wonder how many kits they went through?

Must be a relatively popular genre of kit. I see the ARRMA Outcast is doing well already.
