Thanks Matt. I knew you'd come along eventually for clarification. :)

I bought 2 of these kits that I'm yet to build both are my first ever Tekno kit purchase as I was told Tekno kits are second to none ! now if the motor I have chosen won't bolt up that's going to be a huge disappointment considering the price point of these .. Okay you can add a shim but this isn't exceptable by any means.

Are you saying that some of the mounts are fine and others have flaws or it depends on the motor choice ? A couple of instances isn't really any sort of answer it's more just skating over the real problem which by the looks is the new mount just don't work like the old which is discontinued now, and why should we the buyer have to go out and buy a mount that works after already buying a top end kit ?

I think you should remake the old mount and replace it for folks having troubles perhaps in way of exchange New for old ?

Believe me, Tekno doesn't mess around. Once they ID an issue, they will work to correct it. If you find yourself in this situation once you've built the kit, shoot tekno an e-mail, and I'm sure they will make it right. Issues like the motor mount are definitely NOT the norm.

I've owned 9+ tekno vehicles, and built 5 of those kits. Besides reaming out the arms, none of them have needed a thing.

The motor is not the issue, any current motor on the market will fit the mount as long as the diameter is not so large that it hits the chassis or center outdrives, which is not the issue we've been discussing.

All machined parts have a tolerance, they're allowed to be + or - a certain amount. What appears to have happened with this batch of motor mount inserts it that some of them are outside of that tolerance. This is a very recent development and we've only had a very small number of mounts not allow a motor to be installed.

TKR5211X has been out and available for about 4 years now, it is not a new product. And the dimensions for 5211X are exactly the same as 5211, it's just lightened and won't work if you run mechanical brakes on the 5210 center diff motor mount. Otherwise it's the same part.

If you're installing your motor into your car and you cannot get it to go on please contact customer service at [email protected] and they'll get you sorted out. We're all aware of this problem and are doing what we can to ensure it is remedied.

Matt,
Thank you for the professional reply for those having an isssue with the motor mount insert including myself.

All, I received a PM this morning from Matt asking me to send in my pics to CS and I would be taken care. I am not a racer so it may be nothing new to most of you. this is my first Tekno and my first ever time a manufacturer has contacted me or even replied to an email or a phone call I have made In The past. To me, it shows the level of CS Tekno has and I have no doubt my particular issue or any issue will be resolved whether it be a replacement part or a revision to the kit.

Thumbs up Tekno and Matt

Great videos!

Regarding the motor mount and Tekno's support: I wrote an email to Tekno and got feedback within 8h. In my opinion, the service is just great and tolerance "mistakes" can happen.

Went to the skate park after dinner tonight and put this truck through what some would call its paces, this truck is a dam tank, pack after pack of abuse and still nothing has given way, I'm amazed at what this truck can do and just keep on trucking

Thank you for clearing up some doubts I had and it's certainly answered all my questions

If I do run into trouble it's always a massive plus to have fast friendly help like this to hand, hopefully like you say it's just a rare few and I was unaware the old mount was actually he same size, as a precaution I did go ahead and order the older mount which now seems a little to premature lol

Glad to hear that this is not the norm and my faith has now been restore I made the right choice ;)
