Default First 5s impression

Yup my first 5s packs.
It's nuts!!
I didn't swap pinion gear out. Ran the 24 tooth.
Yeah I know. But, when lvc cut in I could feel the motor was hot. But it's been just as hot on 4s in tall grass. So I think it's ok.
But it's nuts!
I had it break dancing down my driveway with the blip of throttle. Nuts!
Was awesome to watch though. Nothing broken. Lost a body washer and a cracked in the body.
What fun. I see 4s being boring.
For the record.
0 punch control.
I'm running a diff strength test. Just to compare to the yxl diaster
First test - PASSED.
I did lower brake to 25%.
Don't like end overs.
Added drag brake to 20%.
This helped me alot tonight. Without that I'm sure my xxl2e would be in pieces.
Hope it helps.
Run em hard. They like it.

The stock Hobbywing is programmable with that basic program box right?

Stock on a xxl2e is castle product. I'm using the castle link. Don't know about hobbywing.

I did the wing upgrade on the XXl2-E today. Here are some pictures.

You have to make a cut on the body, which can be a bit challenging because it's so think. I used wire cutters and an exacto knife, chipping a bit away at a time. I then sealed the exposed area with a flame to prevent any chipping or fraying. The cut has a width of 6cm and a depth of 5.5cm. You pull four screws off the rear shock tower and the wing support posts slide right on. You then attach it using the longer screws provided in the kit. Make sure not to over tighten then as the plastic is quite soft. Looking from the top down, you can't tell it's been modded.

5s IMO is the best voltage for the Castle 2200kv motor. More power than 4s but not as nutty as 6s and it's a little less gearing sensitive than 6s can be.

@ Overspeed, if I may offer a little critique. When you make a cutout like that in a Lexan body the inside corners should be rounded. Non rounded corners are more likely to develop cracks. Not sure if you can make that cutout deeper to round the corners on this body but definitely something to keep in mind on the next body.

Since, I have reenforced the corners and edges with carbon fibre. Time will tell if this wing can survive rolls.

Every time the truck rolls I have to go and replace the wheelie bar rod mounts. Just the parts that attach to the aluminum rod. They are very soft plastic and this truck is way heavy. This is what I have had to buy 5 time already:

Does anyone know if metal rod mounts have been produced (by anyone) or if there is any way to strengthen it up? It would be great if these mounts could be bought in bulk instead of having to buy the whole assembly over and over just to get the two mounts.

I haven't seen aftermarket mounts but with some time and cheap material I'd make my own
some metal 1/2 or 3/4 channel to make two mounts
drill some holes for the horizontal pins
Drill a centervhole in the channel for a 3mm bolt to attach to the alum rod

Or maybe i'll just do away with the wheelie bar all together. Mine doesn't really do wheelies anyways. Is this part compatible with the XXl2-E?

Yes. Both bumpers.
Check jennysrc rc or dollar hobbies. Look in the xxl2 parts. Cheap and quick to ship. Almost all the nitro and xxl2e parts swap.

The wheelie bar on mine didn't last either.
I remember reading a different thread a few months back. That fellow replaced the bar with a shock he mounted in there. Took a little tuning to get it. But worked very well. Don't remember which thread or model. But I think he used a shock from traxxes. Might have been a slash or something.
Food for thought.
