The XErun 80A and EZrun 60A are as water restestant as you could ever want. Ive ran in DEEP snow, mud, etc and never one failure. Ive owned several Hobbywings and there fine for general outdoor use. Just don't throw it in the lake!

you can gear down on the xs. you just have to drill your own holes in the plate. i had to gear down because i run in a lot of grass and im running a tacon 2 pole motor.

Great info guys thanks. I haven't had any issues with my stock esc just yet on 3s. I probably will invest in a sc8 for the future tho. Sounds like a good esc for not a lot if $$$

What Tacon are you running? I briefly had a Tacon 3200kv installed and had no problems on stock gearing. It was a loss in performance over the first CK Hobbies 4000kv 4 pole that was installed. So I went with the new Toro at CK Hobbies. 3900kv 4 pole 540 can

Great buy for $50 ! Performance is comparable to Castle 1410 3800 SC motor at less than 1/2 the price
No cogging paired with the Mamba Max Pro, runs cool and hard on 2s

I just bought the green 4000kv tacon from hobbypartz.com when my esc smoked in the xs when i first bought it. i'm running a vxl esc which only supports 2 pole motors. system works great and strong but stock gearing was to high. the motor heated really quick, 170 before i knew it. i kept gearing down untill i hit the right temps. i am running 3s and in grass only.

I know it has probably been asked before but for any of you that have had the merv or still do, and also have the xs which do you prefer. I have my merv but it trashes diffs constantly. I will say that I do not cut it any slack though, big jumps and high speeds all the time. Will the xs out perform and be more reliable. Thanks

well bought this for myself for xmas, own many cars, most racers and no electric bashers...1st time out popped steering links and servo is junk...read this whole forum so i see the fixes but what i was dissappointed in was the rear hub broke, as they're on backorder,we all know what that means.
ill try the trx 2443 and a new servo and will try again.
was looking fwd to get a basher and turn it overto my son when he gets old enough....hope it is a one time issue

I've had a MERV, different ball park, the MERV takes Micro batteries (which get hot) has weaker diffs and on 3s the driveshafts like to pop out. The Merv wasn't a bad truck but next to the XS it feels like a toy

Ya need the TRX camber links and you'll never have any issues with the tierods after that. That was upgraded before my first run. And heres a great, cheap servo upgrade http://www.valuehobby.com/power-hd-1501mg.html
There 25t so you can keep stock servo horn and I've had about three of these. They're actually quality servos and do stand the test of time.
Servo was also pulled strait from the box on mine. Didnt even give it chance, lol I have to tear mine down. I was bashin a little and it tumbersalted down the hill now it tickin like somethins in the gears or drive train But I dont see anything and it was grass. so... But it not my favorite truck to work on.

Not to jynx myself but how are you guys breaking these things? I beat the HECK out of mine and have no issues with it. I take it down the same stuff I take my flux HP through and no problems out of it. How many 100% stock trucks are having issues with parts breaking?

Default xs or stampede 4x4

I do have a question for those that have exp. with these electrics. I am wanting to get two trucks for my boys. They can drive these just fine as they use to drive my savages and my HPI Baja 5B just fine. We do not have a local track, so it's strickly for bashing. I have been doing a lot of reading and watching video of the pede 4x4 and the savage xs. I am undecided on which one would be a better purchase. I will only be running a 2s setups as I don't want these guys doing cartwheels at 45mph! lol. I would like to here some opinions on which one is better for bashing and why. I mainly run on flat ground, some pavement, and mod. smooth dirt. No large ruts or really rough terrain. I just want something that is fairly tough. I do understand that as stuff breaks (like arms and axels) that I should probably upgrade to a tougher part... rpm, cvd, etc...

They will be jumping some small jumps we are going to build, like table tops and such. Maybe around 2 feet high. I am not wanting to launch them up to high, but want them to have fun.

Thanks

I used to have the Pede 4x4, but ran into some money issues and had to make a quick sale. So I did'nt have it very long. There both great. The flux only needs a servo/steering links upgraded. The Stampede only needed CVDs. I had mine for only weeks and kept twisting driveshafts on 2s
But Im glad to see people are still considering them. It's been a great truck! I simply neat the snot outta it and it keeps comming back for more! But it seems to have fell of the RC map after the mini 8ights release. But this ones a keeper IMO.
The clickin I mentioned was the steel gear in the front diff. Two teeth broke off. But $7 and Im back in the dirt! HPI is sending me a replacement gear aswell.
