t-maxx is very competitive out of the box, 4wd, reverse, 2 speed, great engine(comparable to most .21's), suspension. the stadium maxx is more for racing though, 2 speed, no reverse, 4wd. or you could just get the revo, which is the best of both worlds and more.

Out of the 2 you mentioned the Maxx's (or Revo) are more race oriented whereas the Savage is more of a Basher. By basher I mean just screwin around havin a good time, doesn't mean is a junker by any means. I was just drivin my Sav yesterday is it was crawlin over stuff that my SirioMaxx couldn't do, or it wouldn't of done it as easily.

If you want a fast azz truck that I hear is very durable I would go with the Tamiya TNX. Check out some vids of it. It is VERY fast in stock form.

ah, yes, the tnx would be a good choice. but this is the t-maxx thread, so we must support our most favorite truck the most.:sneaky:

Any of you guys tried a picco small-block .21 in a maxx? it's a direct (sp?) fit, and has 2.5 hp!
think it's going to be my next investment on that money pit:lol:

macnkitty2002 11-15-2004 03:09 PM

dont get it! people at my track have one and it is sooo hard to get started, keep running, and tune. my sirio .18 does better than it does even when the guy can get his .21 running.

terrible ted 11-20-2004 01:34 AM

ya, but what are those guys using to start it with, the TRX ez start bolts right on it.
not to make any body mad, but don't relly like sirios.;)

critterracing 11-20-2004 05:00 AM

hey guys

skip all those engines and head straight for the new OS TM18. this motor is crazy and runs perfect like all OS do. strong.

direct bolt in for the maxx or revo. 2 different headers.

terrible ted 11-20-2004 09:18 PM

ya, but will it keep up with .21s?

macnkitty2002 11-21-2004 09:17 AM

the drop-in .21's for the t-maxx are a little to "torquie" for racing i think. the .18's have more rpm, and can keep up with the "drop-in" .21's. now .21 conversion kits on the other hand are a different story. those .21's are not small block .21's, so they will have the rpm of a normal .21. with my experience with .18's, they are pretty good in any monster truck.

I agree. I love my Sirio 3.0 Maxx. Didn't care for my 24.7 Maxx.

erock87 11-21-2004 02:16 PM

What do you guys think of teh new .18tz from os. I was thiking of gettign it because it has 2.3hp and is still a small block .18. I am only afraid of getting it becuase i want my stock drivetrain to handle it and i dont think it will. Was wondering what any of you thought of about getting it.

macnkitty2002 11-21-2004 03:13 PM

just get some hardened diffs from robinson. i would get one too if i wasn't selling my maxx:(

erock87 11-21-2004 03:28 PM

What would i need to get for the hardend diffs and where woudl i get them, I would'nt need ot change the driveshafts either?

Quinton 11-21-2004 03:45 PM

What I did for my diffs was to use military grade hardened 3mm screws since my problem was always shearing the 4 little screws off. Once I installed them I have not had any problems (with the diffs that is)

macnkitty2002 11-22-2004 04:58 PM

erock, the robinson gears are just a hardened steel version of the stock ones. though i do recommend getting some cvd driveshafts. not saying that the stock ones arent tough as nails though. you would only need to get the ones to the wheels, since the center ones arent moving angles. much less wear on the center ones.
