correct, because the engine produces the rpm required to engage the clutch inside of the central transmission.

I am reposting this here, because it seems this is where the people with the answers hangf out...
Swing arm Question

Well I broke my first couple of parts last night.
Clipping a Fence at top speed does nasty things to the stock swing arms.

Now the Hardcore Racing full swing arm set looks fantastic, but be buggered if I am about to pay 200USD for em.

I am curently looking at the Megatech upper and lower swings which I can get for about 130USD for the full set. or the XTM Set for a little less

Does any one have any sugestions of what else I should be keeping in mind, or does any one have an opinion of which to go between the two?

iNTEGY ULTIMATE TYPE II WEB CHASSIS for Traxxas 2.5 T-Maxx

What do you guys think about the iNTEGY ULTIMATE TYPE II WEB CHASSIS for Traxxas 2.5 T-Maxx? I have a SportMaxx I want to make into a stadium style racer like the project Maxx on the Traxxas site. I will be using the 2.5R engine.
I appreciate your feedback,
Tim

i heard integy stuff bends, get the fast lane racing with the 3 point brace system, Guarunteed for life not to bend and if it does you send it back and get a new one. It only costs like $80 for the braces and chassis at www.stormerhobbies.com

Falcon Lord, do you mean "swing arm" as in suspension arm? if so, i would look at the dynamite ones
www.dynamiterc.com
they are pretty tough, look at some titanium hinge pins too.

timslosi, that chassis looks great. especially if you have an already superlight stadium maxx, this chassis will have milled out sections to reduce weight even more so. go for it!

Which one? The Integy or the Fast Lane? The Integy is a little more than half the price of the Fast Lane.

i was talking about the integy:nod:

What rubber do people race on when on packed gravel, what do they race on when on soft dirt?

What about bashing in gravel or dirt? or on grass for that matter.

I understand the Hard Rubber Vs soft rubber arguments when on Bituman, but is soft the go for offroad racing in the same way? or do you start getting to much wall flex and the like on the large rubber if you go for a soft compound?

Tim'sLosi 12-02-2004 04:21 AM

Don't forget the hard vs soft inserts. They will help to control sidewall flex. There is a good article on tires I will have to find for you. TT

macnkitty2002 12-02-2004 04:54 AM

grass, regualar chevron tires, gravel, big spiky tires, loose/hard dirt, bowties

FALCON-LORD 12-02-2004 02:19 PM

So Modified Chevron patterns like the Proline Masher or Imex Claws don't get a mention?

Nore do the more solid Nobled tires? (Big Joes, Imex Dirt Hawgs)

I take it all of the Pined or bowtie tires ware a lot quicker than a more solid patterned tire? (Masher, Big Joes...)

Also what is the diference between bowties and Pined (Malcher) or stepped tiers?

erock87 12-02-2004 02:31 PM

Bowties are a micro pin(verysmall rectangular shape, looks like a bow tie) while mulchers and step pins are big pins like spikes

FALCON-LORD 12-02-2004 02:45 PM

Sorry I wasn't clear in my question.

I see the pin size diference, but it doesn't seem substantial enough to make a performance diference of any note.

Behaviorally what is the diference between Mulchers and Bowties

erock87 12-02-2004 03:17 PM

my track that i race at we have a hardpacked clay substance that is hard to get traction on when dry, bowties since they have small pins touch more of the ground and therefore get mopre tarction. On a hightraction place that has for say top soil you would use mulchers becuase of the bigger pin to gain maximum traction.

thank you:nod:
