Well that sounds about right, considering Castle is on V3 of their Monster ESC! I would bet HPI has been sitting on their prototype for some time now waiting for the right time to announce. I bet if HPI announced their truck with the release of the V1 or V2 Monster ESC then people would be dissapointed at HPI for release delays of the Savage Flux. Pure speculation on my part though.

Tons of after market support readily available on the Emaxx too.
emaxx is totally water proof not resistant, have you ried to take one of those escs apart, you cant there is a an apoxxy cover over the electronics. i have sunk mine in my creek. jumped it into my pond and played in the rain and snow.

the e-maxx 16.8 is your best shot. and plus you get the cs of traxxas and more.

No, I haven't and I'm aware of TRX's claims. But I'm also aware of others who haven't been as fortunate as you when they got there's wet and lost their electronics.

Def don't get me wrong, my orig reply said to go with the EMaxx - no doubt it's the best choice. A factory based effort at water proofing is way better than nothing!!

At least TRX is trying, my hats off to them for that!

We're kinda getting of the subject, but....I was so looking farward to getting the BL E-Revo for my B'day in early Nov, but it came an went and no E-Revo - arrival keeps getting pushed back. Now its on for mid Jan (per TRX). But in the meantime, HPI come out with the BL Flux which appears to be a updated Sav with all the drive train goodies, spec built batt boxes and the same CC combo. I haven't seen delivery date on the Flux though.

So now I have a real dilemma as in which one? The 2.4 radio may just be enough diff to make a decision, but still thinking.....

Brushless e-revo with 2.4 gear sounds like a nice package for club level racing if your track has a class for you to run in. If you're just bashing though, the Savage Flux should be worth the wait. Nitro Savage platform time and again proves to be the benchmark for 1/8 scale Monster Truck bashing, much the same way as the Revo platform has proven to be the benchmark for 1/8 Monster Truck racing.

Thats a good point - and I will be bashing. Price diff would cover more than1/2 of a FAAST rx which is all it would cost me to run 2.4, so the radio diff isn't that big of a deal.

Thanks DARKWAV

I keep trying to get FASST RXs for cheap on eBay but the best I ever seem to be able to do is $70. I've tried so many time to grab them in the 60 range but keep getting out-bid. Occaisionally it seems like someone snags one in the $60-65 range but that's never been me! Maybe I should be looking for deals elsewhere.

All 17 of my rp113ip rx have come from the bay - all my 2.4 stuff has come from FS/FT Forum here and I've managed to catch a little better deals. They seem to come in spurts - be none for a while, then a bunch and they're gone again. I use my 3PK to go both ways and will eventually have more than 3 rcs running 2.4.

FAAST sure did make the synth FM tx module and 113ip rxs cheap though, prices on ebay dropped about 50%. I just bash and most of the time its me or maybe one or two others and we've never had probs. Thats the beauty of my 3PK, basically have 3 diff radios.
