T/E Maxx Thread

MyClod: Thanks for the input on the differences between the two cars!!! It was very helpful in me making my choice of which one to buy!!!!
CoastalTony: Hey thanks for your feedback as well, yeah when you get that V1R I'd be anxious to know your thoughts on it & the comparison to the other two, prolly similar by working better on different types of tracks as well!!!!
LouisB: Hey bud, why don't you just get a new Piston & Sleeve for that engine instead of buying whole new one!?!?! You may be able to get them reasonably priced at your LHS!!!!
(Just a thought, & it will save you a bit of money from having to buy a new one)

New Jack If I get a new piston + sleeve then it will just happen again. I think that this is a case of me buying an engine with a very short lifespan, I'll be replacing pistons and sleeves over and over. I think (but I don't know, b/c the HB site has been down for some time) that it isn't ABC so it wouldn't last all that long
The engine still runs and when it's going it has good power so I can wait a while 'til I decide what to do

The first thing you should do when you buy a t-maxx is take out the crappy trx engine out, keep it as a spare or something. Buy like a megatech .16 or a O.S. 15 CV hyper. The stock engines have no power and are very touchy to any weather.

Yes atlas you are right but to get the motors to have a lot of power you need to modify them big time! We cant say its all the motor because the T-Maxx is Very heavy and getting some power like a EK-4 is very hard.

I think I might get a T-Maxx, because Electric is starting to bug me with all the charging.
Here's the list:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Traxxas T-Maxx. ( Ver. 2.0 )
SuperMaxx WideTrac Stage 3
JT Lightweight Racing Chassis
MotorSaver Airfilter
Fuel, Glow Igniter, etc.
Total: About $680
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Is there anything else I really need?

Yep, Racing & Bashing. The new Traxxas .15 ( Dubbed as 2.5 ) won't be enough power?
They 'claim' it will go 40 MPH with optional gearing. The maximum I have to spent is $700. Eventually, I'm going to get UE Foward Only gears, 4 Ofna 1/8th scale shocks, UE Servo Saver, and some other stuff ..
Edit: Heck, I don't even know how much the 2.0 T-Maxx is.

Has anybody experienced a worn-out clutch bell of the TRX 15 engine? The teeth of my gear connecting the engine and the spurgear has been worn-out. Our local hobby shop doesn't know what clutch bell I should use to replace the old one. What manufacturer have the same clutch bell as that of Traxxas. Hope to hear from you guys.

You did not mention which spur gear is
on your truck. The stock plastic spur
gear is made to wear out. ($3.00 part)
I have clutch-bells with bearings that
are made for the T-Max. I have 17, 18,
19, 20 (stock), and 21 tooth
clutch-bells.
I have a Robinson Racing 72 tooth
hardened steel spur gear, and the 17
tooth in mine for asphalt on-road
racing. With the OS .15 CV, I can do
wheelies

My RB's head screws are fine (after about 1/2 a gallon)
They are quite difficult to tune, but mine's running perfectly now. It sometimes pulls wheelies (with a 18 tooth bell), if I hadn't put the forward only converson in then it would pull them all the time
It does take a little time to re-tune when the weather changes.
When you've got it tuned right you'll get awesome performance, are u using a slide or rotary carb? what clutch bell do u have on it?
