They quicken the steering reaction of the car quite a bit on parts of the track that has S turns and 180's it very noticeable. Still working on a good basic setup but it's fun to drive. 50t motor is so fast could never imagine how people can drive the hotter 32t motors.

Looking for some track advice, I am planning on a semi permanent rc track in my basement. I plan to use 9 sheets of 4x8x3/4 of OSB T&G (smooth side up), screwed together with 1x4 under, and spaced around to raise the OSB up a little from the concrete floor, and then using spray glue and asphalt tar paper as a racing surface, and old garden hose to line the track layout. Has anyone tried this? I don't mind TOO much grip, id rather that than too little, as id like to use the rwd cars.

Yep something like this -

After the quick test I did on the track, the grip is great. Should make for some good racing. I decided not to glue down the surface, instead using some 2x2 with t nuts and bolts, I will clamp down the surface at each end of the track. Now that the garage is almost complete (new house etc) Ill be back to completing the basement track soon.

On my MR03VE, I have to use brakes often as the LM (TS020 body) just keeps coasting freely and not much steering without braking. It's quite fun though.

I see. GL on finishing the MiniZ track. There cars are so fun to drive, and the body detail is exactly where I want them to be for all my RC cars. I too have a MicroRS4, but thing is in the back of the shelf right now just taking a nap as the MiniZ's were so much better than I imagined, even the MR03-Sport trim.

Rubber. the one car I tested on it had some good understeer, rear was stuck, and they seem to be atomic rubber tires. unsure of what shore. But considering the grip level, I don't think you will be unhappy with any rubber tire on this surface. But as others have said, you have to keep it relatively clean.

It took me a couple months to get mine. I found the first one, a wide oval, in a forum classified for $75 shipped, then found another oval on ebay about a month and a half later for the same price. During that time I checked ebay, craigslist, and all the major forum for sale listings several times a day. They do pop up, but if it's a good deal they disappear just as quickly.
This is a pretty good deal for getting started. I'll be adding one of these to my collection soon.

With that wide L and my current RCP I'll be able to make some pretty big layouts.
