I am using a hobbywing brushless motor. The problem now is the set screw keeps backing out about 15 seconds after I start running it, I'm going to try to get a metal pinion and hopefully that will stop that problem with some blue locktight. I am using whatever the stock spur gear is for the M18 not the M18 pro and I'm using the Penguin P7500 chassis and motor mount, I also tried the stock one with no luck.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I did finally get it running for a while this evening. The metal pinion did the trick and solved that problem. Also as far as where to get parts, I feel very comfortable recommending Atomicmods.com. I spoke with Frank over there for about an hour today and he gave me unbiased good advice and helped a lot in addition to having everything I wanted. Unfortunately this doesn't have a happy ending, the servo that I got, JR SM22, took a crap after about 30 minutes of running. So I'll be sending that back and waiting for a replacement. I'm thinking about getting the Hitec 82 or 85mg and selling that once it's been returned. So thanks for everybody's help in getting this thing going.

Took a crap as in stripped gears, or no response? I have 2 (one in my m18, one in my 14R), and havent had any issues.

Yes, you definitely need a servo saver. Even with an MG servo, unless it says it is an ALL metal geartrain, it will have 1 plastic gear that will strip if you dont run a saver Most micro servos im aware of are not all MG

If anyone is looking for Protoform Stratus body for their M18 let me know. My LHS has two in stock that I can ship out as long as you cover shipping and packaging costs. I know this body is very difficult to find and the only body that allows the wider track front axles. I don't race micro onroad any longer but I'm starting to get back into micro offroad.

Hang tight, Parma is working on releasing a new body for the M18 that should hopefully be available sometime within the next month, shooting for a release date before ECC. It will be based off of their 1/10 Mohawk and is a perfect fit for the M18.

Default Motors & ESC

Hey guys!
Just a quick question.

We have a carpet track with about 25m long straight. I was driving my M18 with Ezrun ESC and some 10$ motor, which actually did good, I managed to be on podium even against 9000KV Vortex and tekin on 3s.
I am willing to upgrade to better powerset, has someone used novak's mongoose powersets?
How are they, what KV would you recommend me?

Go with the Castle Micro Mamba pro much better fit fot the M18.
The Novak mongoose motor is to big and the esc seems to be on the bulky side.

Mongoose esc is almost 1/3 lighter, and sensor is a bonus
Or am I missing something?
What KV for my track size would be good?
Thanks

but the motor is a 380 and thats pretty big for the M18 your best bet then would be the
Castle Creations Sidewinder Micro 1/18th Scale Sport Brushless Car Package (6800kV, 5400kV, This motor for a stock class 4200kV, or

Reedy Micro Brushless ESC & Motor Combo (5500kV, or the 6100kV
