Looking for Lipo for my rs4...what size?

Hi folks,

I've been using the NiMH for ages and finally decided that since everything else I have is LiPo, I really should do likewise for the RS4.

So I was wondering what people are running as a LiPo pack? Are there dimenssions which work best and is there a vendor that seems good?

I was looking at the following, but not sure if it'll fit and work...and thoughts?

the venom 800 mah battery fits in here it really depends on which chassis you are running as to what fits...

ours had to be a maximum of 69 mm long to fit get ur ruler out and see we4 had a REALLY hard time finding batts short enough most seemed to be about 74 mm long and there is no way for them to fit in the exotec exo3 chassis...

Can the stock motor handle a 2S LiPo?

sun_dance 12-29-2011 06:23 AM

2S are fine

From everything I've read a 2s setup is fine but I actually upgraded the motor and got a great deal on a couple of micro lipos on eBay which should be getting here soon

stock brushed motor (380 type) can handle up to 8.4V so 2S lipo (7.4V) should be fine. Most of older motors can run anywhere between 4 - 7 cells.

Isn't the stock motor a 180 size, rather than 380? I picked up two, both with stock, "flatsided" motors. They also have the 5 cell packs, which fully charged are about 7 volts. A fully charged 2 cell LiPo is 8.4v.

I figure a few $7 LiPos would be a quick 'n dirty hop up. I also considered getting a cheap 20mm brushless, and running the 4 cell AA battery box, for long run times. Any ideas what Kv motor would be good for this?

I'm not looking for maximum performance, just an upgrade from stock, and I would like long runtimes.

Yeah, I was going to use a low voltage beeper.

They ARE long forgotten. Once you can't get tires and diffs, it's time to say goodnight. Good thing I just bought my first RS4 yesterday. :p

If anyone has some rubber tires that will be good for hard surfaces like cement and hard wood floors, please PM me. Thanks. :tire:

I still can't figure out how the heck you get the wheels off! I think 1/18 on road in general is forgotten everyones drooling over SCT something like a brand new 1/18 from HPI could save the class I can think of XRAY m18 associated 18R. And that's all that's out now I got mine in April it has an orion big block I'm running on AAs I get over 1 hour of runtime about 9200mah using rechargeable nimh energizers a Micro Sprint 2. Would be sick!

The HPI soft rear rubber tires had crazy grip and lasted forever. They are impossible to find anymore.
