Has anyone tried the MR03Evo with the 4100 motor for Mini 96? Wondering how this compared to the same chassis with the 5600 motor.
That work with you guys? Cheers, Jim |
In response to LJH and 4100kv motor. Does not bother me, at this point speed is not my limiting factor. I could have the fastest car on the planet and I would probably turn slower laps then stock.
Dumb question: It appears from pictures people are running ball diffs on most cars besides box stock. I assume it performs better on such a tight track as the Mini96. If I buy one will I have better cornering and more fun in your folks opinion. 2nd Dumb question: It appears to me that I am one of the only people running a 102 wheel base. It would make sense to me that on a tight track to run a shorter wheel base. What are your folks recommendations and experience? Thank you for the help and advice in advance |

Thank you for the help and advice in advance On the Diff, a ball diff gives you some tuning ability but when I first switched over I was noticeably slower with a ball diff. One thing that helps a lot on the gear diff is opening it op and putting a little bit of grease inside, I just used some white lithium that I had in the garage. Basically it slows down the diff action making it a bit more "limited slip". I ended up going to ball diffs so I could run 64p gears which are quieter and more efficient. I run a LM car in Super Stock and I do not think the wheel base is a disadvantage really. I can navigate the turns as easily on my LM chassis as I can on my 94mm Stock Car. I love running my LM car, it is fast and stable. I also love the old Group C cars and think they look awesome on track. Cheers, Jim |
Just finished running two packs through my Stock Car. I am getting more comfortable running CCW and the car fees great but I am off pace a good 1/10th on fast lap and I feel like it takes a lot of work to make 4.5s laps. Not sure if it is a horsepower thing or set up. I did not make any changes other then rebuilding the diff and cleaning the damper.
Cheers, Jim |
I'm getting some CCW runs in with my box stock car for April, and by the third run I beat my March CW time of 369.5 by 5 seconds. Now I was only able to get 3 box stock and 3 stock runs in at the beginning of March for the month, but I really believe I have a preference for running CCW. Glad the Mini96 challenge alternates between CW and CCW every month. Looking for an under 6 min time in box stock next! Stay tuned!

Adjusting the roll center all but eliminated that problem and I switched back to regular front end and 19mm rear wheels with K30 radials instead of 20s and the car is very good and a blast to drive! At the moment it is sitting right between my Box Stock car at 350 seconds and my GT 70T car at 330 seconds. This car is not a 90mm wb, but it is the only other "Narrow" car I have and I wanted to see how is did compared to the Focus as I've never raced it. I actually borrowed the inner tube front suspension from this car to try on my 90mm Narrow car to help with the hop. This car also suffers from traction rolling, and adjusting the roll center helped and I also switched to K30 radials instead of 20s in the rear and the car is very good and also fun to drive! At the moment it is sitting right between my 90mm Narrow car at 342 seconds and my GT 70T car at 329 seconds. Traveler.....That is some awesome consistency, nice going.
I have put a lot of laps on my 94mm Stock Car today and pretty much up to speed. I went a bit softer in the front and while is it faster it will traction roll if you are not focused.......I was just having an absolutely awesome run when I rolled it on the far side of the track on lap 69. With that being said I will be faster going CCW as well. I will start working with my Box Stock car, I did not run it al all last month so it will be good to get one track. Cheers, Jim |

2nd Dumb question: It appears to me that I am one of the only people running a 102 wheel base. It would make sense to me that on a tight track to run a shorter wheel base. What are your folks recommendations and experience? The 102mm WB cars can be competitive on the Mini-96 because they are easier to drive consistently. So a newer driver may be better off with a 102mm car. Check out my posts #673 and 674 to see how some of my 102mm cars compared to 94 and 98mm. |

Oh man i just fell in love with my glr with a 5500kv dxr sensored motor. Have it turned down to 20 on the program card but damn is it smooth.
|
I'm looking for a new 3500kv sensored motor. I have an Atomic which is great but it doesn't fit in the GLR 98mm motor pod.
