Pretty much what Traveler2 said. For tire/body rub you shave down the body, not the tires. Grinding out the wheel wells is really common. Racing bodies aren't pretty because they get modded and busted up eventually. Don't race anything you want to keep.
I'd try the radials and see how it drives. One isn't strictly better than the other just have to see what works for you. I'm a fan of slicks all the way around but PN Super Soft Radials hook up really well so there isn't one answer. |

Radials are usually better on the rear than slicks on the smooth side of RCP. I use Kyosho 20 radials.
I’ve never run the SC430, but I would not shave the radials because you’ll loose rear traction. You might be able to dremel the inside of the body to prevent rubbing or adjust the placement of the side clips so the rear of the body sits a little higher and doesn’t rub. If you could post some pictures, that might help us troubleshoot. Was able to setup the track for the first time: wipe it down and vacuum the thing in about 45 min with my lady. Spent about an hour practicing getting my fastest lap down to a 5.76 with 3 sub 6 laps in a row. My average was tainted because of 2 false laps outside my parameters. . Pretty stoked about the setup and how quickly I got used to the smaller size and how fast the track runs. It was a bit difficult for me to find the race line at first. I typically like to stand infront of the most difficult sections and work my way thru then and then loop it together. I probably did 100 laps before settling on the front straight. I'm going to assume because the track is new my tires stuck to the surface like glue preventing me from sliding around the tighter sections like I should have. I was allowed to keep my track setup for now, so I'm very excited to post a real time for my own progress tracking. |
I set up the track and put just a few laps in. I’m nowhere close where you guys are. I’m just running my box stock for now and I actually have it in practice mode (I think it’s 50% throttle). I still bump walls in a 75 lap stint. Best times are in the low 5s.
A couple of questions: 1. I had to change the front upper and lower arms with PN racing components. No matter how much I shaved the balls, front suspension was still binding. I reversed the king pins as well (though PN uses C clips and balls on both ends). No other changes. Is this still box stock or stock? 2. Is anyone using EZ laps timer? If so, are you running it in practice mode or race mode? In practice, it won’t go to 75 laps. It resets in about half that. In race it doesn’t announce the times each lap, which I’d really like to have. I know I can use the iPhone app, but I like EZ better. |

I say put it into full 100%epa and let it eat, the reason being is u will never get use to it when u turn it up. Do it now this way u dont have to learn a car all over again when u do. as far as ez lap goes there is ways to have it say laps u just need to set it up unfortunately I dont know how so I cant help there |

Awesome to see some new guys putting in times....keep at it.
I also want to remind the newbies that when you post a new (faster) time can you edit your original post so that the fast time in on top of your post. This makes it easier for all of us to see the fast time for a particular individual. Thanks and drive fast. Cheers, Jimn |
