I haven’t been there in 6 weeks. I’m 2.5 hours away in Winston, so not easy to get there often. Hope to be back on the 21st.

November Results

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Hello All,
Here are the results for November. I am afraid that we only have two drivers this month. I feel bad that I heckle people to run and then I do not publish any times myself but I have been full on at work and weekend commitments. With that said ski season starts for us next weekend and while I plan on getting some turns on the hill this year I will also have weekends where I will have plenty of time to run once the Christmas tree comes down.

On the positive side I feel like we are starting to get some traction with participation. I know a number of people from the Facebook groups and Mini-Z Racer have purchased Mini96 Tracks and say they will be joining us and may already be lurking here. One thing I want to say is that even if you do not have a fastest time in class publish your results anyhow. This will get more people willing to post results and may result in some good competition further back in the field. I will keep an eye on all the times and if I see some folks battling it out I will be sure to make note of that. Posting your results can also prove to be interesting as you develop as a driver. Just this morning I looked back at some of my early times and I can't believe how much faster I have gotten so post those times up no matter what you run.

Alright....here are our November winners:

Can I ask where you got your Mini 96 from? Seems most places are sold out.

Sadly was impatient and paid up for it on Kenon hobby….with shipping it came out to $330.46 about a hundred bucks more than the other sites I saw them on.

I missed the restock on Walmart a few times, got fed up and just pulled the trigger with Kenon

Kenon has a great selection of items but their shipping on larger stuff is crazy, they have to be using that as a profit center. I would have bought my Ready Sets from them but they wanted something like $30 to ship and you can find the same item elsewhere for the same price with free shipping, it is a shame because I would love to support them as much as possible but with a delta in price like that I just cant do it.

I Know they are on eBay for $299 shipped. It is weird, I have to imagine this is a drop ship products but a bunch it shows up as back ordered on a few sites.

Edit: just found these guys, looks like $275 shipped.

My order from ActivePowersports is now on backorder and shows "Awaiting Shipping". So they are out... this is the same distributor that is used when you go through Walmart. I guess I'll be waiting for a while.

Most places are a week to 10 days before orders are shipped. It happened when I ordered my pieces from tinyrc and salt lake MiniZ.

Not much to report, but I have made strides in getting rid of a ton of junk out of my basement. It no longer looks like a kill room from the movie Saw. I did find some loose mortar that i chipped away and patched last night. So now i just need to lay down the track one night this week. (hopefully :))

I think Santa is bringing me a mini96, it will be fun to race online plus I can use it to test setup. I've got a GLR right but but I'm thinking about getting a Kyosho EVO just for the small track. I'd like something that works with my Sanwa transmitter and maybe eventually they will release the EVO/Sanwa receiver.

The other option I'm thinking of is the GL F-1 car. Would that be legal in open class on the mini96?

dont hold your breath with Hope's of the evo with sanwa compatibility. I repeat DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH. If u already have a glr get the glf or a gla. If u want an evo then u will need to do a brand new radio aswell so that puts u well over 400 depending on radio. If u feel comfortable u dan get a sensored esc and motor along with a micro servo board and reciver and make 1 to use your sanwa witch is what I will be doing once my rc fund replenishes in a lil bit. But as far as painting for the evo dont bother.

I agree, the Evo would mean waiting for a while if it ever happens. Instead I reserved a GLF-1 at the local hobby shop and will pick it up this Friday. Will actually be cheaper than an Evo with upgrades.

Track

Been looking all over for a mini96 track, but either out of stock or shipping is just about the price of the track. Kenon has them in stock for $199.99, but wants $128.08 for shipping. That is crazy.
