Had an ok run going with the black cap motor in a car and was all confident in how I was controlling it. Then the batteries died at lap 60. Need to do some more testing but taking a bit of speed off helped it. Had it in an LM but that Toyota body was making me slide into turns and catch the wall a lot. Easier with the Jomurema/MM setup. Still have to focus up for some good laps. I get a good run going and then get a traction roll to stop the momentum. I stand on the end by turn 2 so I've used my foot a time or two.
The Porsche still cracks me up though, hit the wall just right and it does the slow roll onto it's side. It's taunting me!

Marwan and I have been posting some times on FB and we are getting 4.1-4.4 for Box Stock and 4.0-4.2 for faster classes. I am running as soon as charging has peaked and batteries are HOT, no second runs on battery. I am running everything the same as the June layout. Utilizing as much punch and power I can squeeze for the long straights so charging my AAA at 2 amps (I use PowerOwls AAA bc cheap, don't care about LT damage).
Bringing back old school sub C nimh 1/10 charging habits. Maybe there is no real advantage charging aggressive on these smaller AAA but it's helping my psyche knowing I am maximizing all 75 laps.
Here is a clip of my Box Stock run on July 12

Was about to just order a regular set with a larger scale receiver and get the module separate because I couldn't find the Kyosho set in stock anywhere. Finally popped up and I grabbed one, I'm ready for an Evo now!
Been running box stock with the C8.R body (MR04) and the wheels it came with (+3 front and rear I think). PN KSM fronts and Marka V1R10 rears and it does well but traction rolls too easily. Might just stick with the Kyosho 30 fronts or try a harder PN tire to tone it down a bit. But using brakes helps and have a 5:52 run with a fast of 4.146 but too many wall contacts and rolls.
Somehow my current fast runs in Box Stock, Stock, and Pro Stock are all within a second of each other overall. Guess it doesn't matter the car, I'm about the same with each.
Time to try the Pro Stock and Porsche, I've run them the least.

This happened last night on a near perfect run for me
What is protocol when my last lap is missed bc phone fell after sending it across finish hitting the barrier where phone stand is plugged in lol? I would just throw it away but I was on fire that session.
If my lap counted, using the avg lap time of 4.44, I would come in below 330 sec
Last lap was 8 seconds, I had to pick up my phone and stop the timer

Not sure why it is but I am faster with MM2 motor mounts (vs MM) on my Z chassis. I now have MM2 setup on Box Stock, Stock and Super Stock. This car was easy to drive consistently and attacked the corners well. It also had good rotation. I cut a small slit in middle of Gekko tires to help dissipate heat and reduce little initial bite for more progressive traction around the tighter corners.

Focusing a lot of time on this car for the upcoming PNWC race. I went softer front and lowered ride height to find more rotation. Been fighting oversteer on this car but finally it's where I want it. Drives and leans like a 10 scale touring car

Notes- Kingpin Flip, changed motor mount to PN Racing pod and drilled mounting holes on Xspeed motor to fit. Better adjustability and the car feels stable in the corners. Using a lot of drag brake to rotate the car around the 180 bends. I cut a small slit in middle of Gekko tires to help dissipate heat and reduce little initial bite for more progressive traction around the tighter corners.

NB4+ has made a difference in control so far. No more random glitches from the stock radio putting me into the wall. I have a handful KT-531P radios and all but one have been trouble (glitchy steering pot needing to be cleaned and then some still would have issues). Glad to put that behind me!

My Son was here the last 5 days and I bound a RTR Tx back to my BoxStock so we both can drive and to see what he liked. First off I felt like a Newbie trying to use the RTR Tx!!! It just doesn't fit my hands and it's hard to control with my nerves. He tried it and ran 10-13 second laps with my BoxStock with a McLaren F1 GTR, which likes to grab the rails, going to my NB4 he dropped into the 9s. Then I switched him to my GLR, he's turned less than 100 laps with a mini z a this point, ever. Within 50 laps with my GLR and a Jomu body he was turning 7-8 second laps with a fast lap of 5.8!!! He then ran my Stock PN2.5 03EVO with a Jomu, and he ran 8-9s! He LOVED my GLR, really liked my Stock, and just thought the BoxStock was OK! It was interesting to see a fresh newbie try 1 car then the other and see their times! He was a better driver than me when he was 13, and my nerves were much better then! He travels alot with his job, but after seeing his face when driving the GLR, I see a track of his own soon!!!
Also on the tires you were talking about going to a HARDER PN tire to calm it down, but PN tires run backwards to most. Harder tires have more grip/most initial snap, where softs have the least. My track has quite a bit of grip, and I can't run hard PN tires, as I Traction Roll in every turn. Mediums are what I run most, KS suits me best, but I try KS, KS-M, and KSK with different layouts, as each type of the same hardness act differently. I also like to run +2mm 11mmWide rear wheels and +1mm 8.5 Narrow fronts on most bodies I run even if the take +3mm all around. Tires tend to last longer and the car rolls the middle of the corner better. It also protects the steering from wall strikes!
And it is common for drivers to have close lap times across all the classes they drive, though overalls will usually be shorter with better/more HP cars, as you can correct from a mistake faster. Your times will come down with the more laps you turn! So keep running, and HAVE FUN! Get a set of Kyo RWD wheels and experiment with different wheel off sets and how you like them. There like $25 for a full set of front and rears, and are the cheapest way to find what ya like. They are ok wheels, but I tend to crack the inner hubs, so I went to PN then 3D Disk wheels, but keep the Kyo's to test.
Stick with and have a BLAST!!!
