Classes in the first post are mostly still accurate. We split box stock into sportsman and expert to make it more fun for the newer drivers. Do you have a specific question or class that need clarification? I will work on having Jim update post one.

Welcome to the challenge and don't hesitate to reach out anytime.

Well I'm finally over the Flu, so I put some laps down with my Stock car, and I REALLY like this layout! At least going CW! Anyway, here's my start for the month.
Class- STOCK
Date- 01/08/25
Location-Central Texas
Race Time- 4:34.792 / 274.792
Fastest Lap- 3.224
Chassis- PN 2.5W/MR03EVO board
Body-Jomurema
Wheelbase-98mm
Tires-F-PN KSK 35* LH/ R- PN KSK2030 Soft Slicks
Wheels- F-PN N+1.5mm 19mm Flanged 6 Hole / R- PN W+2mm 20mm Flanged 6 Hole
Motor-PN 3500Kv
Batteries-HiTec 750
Front Springs-PN White
T-Plate-PN #4 Black Fiber Glass
Motor Mount-PN V3 94/98mm
Dampener (If applicable)- PN DDS ( Green top/ PN lt. purple X-Strenght bottom spring) PN Dual Spring Top Shock (Green Front/Purple Rear)
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)-Dry
Gearing-12/54 PN Ball Diff
Notes- +6 Kyosho Tie Rod too. Steering D/R is at 100% with 0% expo, Throttle is at 80%. NEED MORE STEERING!!! At 100% steering and 0 expo I feel like I'm waiting for the car to finish a turn, especially the 180s. I'll start changing DDS springs , then maybe ride height may be too low on 19mm fronts. Track Temp 63.5* humidity 37%.

How do you get a clean first lap? When I start my first lap is always longer due to starting behind the loop...

BoxxerBoyDrew 01-08-2025 08:00 PM

I try to get a first clean/fast lap by starting the race with a 10 second countdown and run a few laps before the start. I usually screw the first few laps up anyway from having to start the race on my laptop and repositioning my hands on the TX. :p

AM03GT 01-09-2025 08:12 AM

Thanks I'll try that. I usually start a little behind the line and try to time when I start to cross as the timer starts but that's less speed/momentum than coming around on a standard lap. I usually end up a second or slower first lap I see a lot of the results posts here the first lap is within 0.2-0.4 seconds of the fast lap that's really good!

I would try some other front tires before making setup changes. 99% of the time slow steering is wrong front tires in my experience.

Live RC lap counting software can be setup to start your first lap when you cross the line so you don't get a bad first lap. Another helpful feature is having it call out your pace during your run. Unfortunately it calls out lap times rounded down to the neatest tenth of a second and requires a monthly subscription.

BoxxerBoyDrew 01-10-2025 12:35 PM

Thanks for the tip PoorBoy! I needed to adjust the ride height anyway after going to 19mm wheels. After setting the ride height I went to KS Soft front normal height, and the steering is almost perfect! I had to turn the steering d/r to 94% and it is carving the corners.

I'm searching for tires for my MR04 ProStock chassis and wanted to try the new Reflex tires. Koysho 30*LH fronts are close but have too much push and feel greasy, but 20*LH are perfect but last less than 1,000 laps. I mentioned above the about Reflex tires being to big for 19mm wheels, so I decided to try them on 20mm PN BBS wheels. Using PN tire tape I installed the tires on the wheels, and they went on very easily. TOO EASY! The rears stayed in place, but the Right Front slipped off part way after about 50 laps. I slid it back in place and it stayed put for another 20 laps or so, but the batteries died. I have 30* Radials on the rear and I tried 40* LH fronts, but they had too much initial grip and TR easily. So I am going to the 45* LH, next. They have GREAT grip, but the looseness of the tires on the wheels has me concerned! Anyone else have this issue? Maybe a bad batch? The rears and 2 sets of fronts have all about the same tension on 20mm PN BBS wheels.

Anyway, Hope all are well and WARM! Drew

would a AE SR27 with 7T pinion count in Box Stock or do i have to run it in "Stock" where I can then run any gearing...?

Assuming the SR27 has the same size spur as a Kyosho readset you can run it in box stock with a 7t pinion but you will need to put a hard body on it.

BoxxerBoyDrew 01-11-2025 09:16 AM

Well I let the Reflex tires setup overnight after mounting the 45* LH Fronts, and they are MUCH better! The traction roll was almost gone, and after removing the rear wing from the 12C the TR was GONE! I ran a few sets of batteries while adjusting the steering d/r and Expo, throttle and breaking, and breaking in the tires, and MAN the car is on rails!!! I was finally able to break a sub-3 second lap and sub 4:20 75 lap time!!! I had a few screwups to add close to 10seconds, so I bet I can hit a sub 4:10 by the end of the month!

Might turn the steering down a bit as it's a bit edgy. Maybe a stronger top damper spring. Car is VERY GOOD, and as of now is my best handling chassis!

Thanks! I'll recount the diff to check but i'm pretty sure its the same # of teeth and pitch as a MR03. I run it with a hardbody Audi R8/Lexan Window.

Lexan windows are not allowed in box stock. It is fine to run the lexan window for this month but ultimately you need the stock window for box stock. I have an extra stock Audi window I can send you if you need it?
