Been getting my chassis setup on this new layout, and I had to glue the sidewalls of the front tires of my MX-5 to stop TR, and do some adjusting to combat a 20% rise in Humidity too. The usual humidity is around 50% now it's hovering in the 70% for the fall, so steering is WAY UP!
I'll try to post some practice times in the next few days, but my back isn't happy with the weather changes so I'm a bit slow at the moment!
This layout is fast but hard to keep consistency up as tiny screw ups put me into the wall! My guess is I will have fast lap times but overalls will suck!
Drive Fast Guys!

AWESOME roadrash!!! Welcome to the Challenge! Good find on a used setup. I haven't tried running with a Lexan body yet, as I tend to run right on the walls, and most Hard bodies brush off the walls where the Lexan bodies don't.
The Mini96 is fun but challenging! Just practice, practice, practice and speed will come. It could be frustrating trying to go fast in the beginning for me, but after I figured out slow and consistent beats fast and in the wall every other lap I got better. Also going to a larger pinion and turning down the throttle makes the car easier to handle when going to the throttle.
Anyway holler with any questions the pop up, as there are some very knowledgeable people here! Also what's the specs on the chassis?
Take Care, Drew

It's not a mini z, it's an sr27. You can get them for around $100 with hobbytowns coupons

BoxxerBoyDrew 11-16-2024 02:31 PM

Got it. I haven't seen one of those in person, but I'm going to Hobby Town soon and I think they have them there, so I will check them out.

The layout this month is deceptively tricky, but once you get it down IT'S FAST!:sneaky:
Have FUN!

I ran a couple of 75 lap stents with my Stock Chassis and it is doing pretty well but still needs some tweaking. Second set of laps was faster than the first where I almost ran a sub 3 second lap with a 3.030! BUT I have a lot of mistakes, either hitting the dog leg off the main straight, or I wedge it in the corner!
Anyway here's the best of the 2.

I haven't been on the clock yet, but when I hit a good line it sure feels fast.

I ran a set of laps with my ProStock after gluing the sidewalls of some PN KS Medium LH. The Kyo 40*LH had too much on power push, but the KSs glued are just about right. I get just a hint of TR in the high speed 90*s if I push it harder than I am. Anywho here's the run Not a great overall time but very fast 2.875 second fast lap! :sneaky: I never thought I would break a 3 second lap!!! The batteries dumped with 10 laps to go, so that didn't help my overall time!

Class-PROSTOCK
Date- 11/20/24
Location-Central Texas
Race Time- 4:36.966
Fastest Lap- 2.875
Chassis-MR04EVO
Body- PN Concept C9
Wheelbase-98mm
Tires-F- PN KS Medium LH slicks (sidewall superglued) / R- Marka V1R10 Slicks
Wheels- F- N+2 20mm PN Yellow BBS / R- W+3mm 20mm Kyo BBS Black
Motor-PN Anima 5500Kv
Batteries-SpeedHouse 800Hv
Front Springs-Green
T-Plate-Nexx #5 Carbon
Motor Mount-PN Multi Mount
Dampener (If applicable)- PN DDS (Green top/Gold bottom springs)
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)-Dry
Gearing-12/52 PN Ball Diff
Notes- Run from the 20th, but it's all I have due to my back being completely out, so I'm recliner bound till it calms down. I switched my ProStock to 102mm with a Merc C9, and it runs AWESOME, but I didn't get any times. I will run my cars CW when I'm able, just to know what I could have run. Then I'll change the layout as PoorBoy directed, and I am glad, as I am surprised I didn't crack a body as hard as I smacked the wall of the dog leg!!

AWESOME TO SEE ALL THE NEW DRIVERS TOO!!! Welcome to all, as the challenge gets better with more drivers!

It drives much differently on the PN KSs than it did on the Kyos, so my consistency is down, but I hope to improve! I'm still torn between running with the lap times called out or just the beep. I tend to try to push the speed for a better lap time with the times announced. How do yall run your times, with times announced or without?
Drive Fast! Drew

I've always run with times announced, but wish FlipSide could also announce my pace every so often, not just my fastest laps and laps remaining so I don't have to finish a stint to know if its better than my last best. I have noticed that most of the time after a really fast lap I end up with a bad lap, but I can't tell if the excitement or distraction of the announcement causes me to wreck of if I'm still moving too fast into the following lap and can't hold on to it. I've often thought about turning off the notifications to see if that would reduce wrecks on laps following fast laps, but not sure how I'd know what lap I'm on or when the race if over. I haven't really messed around with FlipSide announcing options to see if there is something better than what I am using. One day...

Drive fast!

roadrashracing2 11-22-2024 05:51 PM

So will an sr27 with a hard body be able to run in stock class?

BoxxerBoyDrew 11-22-2024 11:06 PM

Thanks for the input guys! Traveler it's funny you mentioned the excitement/distraction causing bad follow up laps, as it happens to me all the time! Next Level announces streak laps as well as fastest laps in Practice mode, and I screw up after running a fast lap or when I string together a long string of streak laps. The longer the streak the tenser I get, till I usually over shoot a corner and put it into the wall! I haven't tried listening to music, but I'll give that a shot!

I do like how Flip Side calls laps remaining! I have heard how Flip Side calls watching PoorBoys videos. But so far Flip Side doesn't work with EZ Lap hardware. I wish I was software savvy enough to make Zround work better! Next Level is SOO easy to use! Great for old country boys like me!:p

I switched my ProStock body from the Concept C9 to a Merc C9-102mm, and the 102mm really likes this layout! I'll get some times this weekend and post them up.

Another thing I noticed when comparing the 03/04 is the bodies sit different on them. I tried to mount my 787B to the 04, and while I had it perfectly flat and slammed on the 03 with the carbon nose clip with no added spacers it had 1.5mm ground clearance all around. On the 04 it was nose up with 3mm clearance under the nose and the rear almost touching the tires. I ran a few laps like that, slammed into the corner of the Dog leg and re-cracked the nose! With the factory nose clip for the Merc C9, it sits level on the 04 with just over 2mm ground clearance all around. I'd like to lower it a bit more, but it's running so well as it is, with just a hint of TR when I hammer it in the turns at the speed I run now. If I get any faster I'll have to try lowering it to combat TR.

Got the track built and started doing some runs as we speak!

roadrashracing2 11-24-2024 10:28 AM

First attempts at doing this, never drove a mini z type car up till a few days ago. Only have the throttle at 75 %. Not sure up class the car would fall into?
