We had 5 racers and a new entrant, welcome Malave, who only race Box Stock this month. HeyDay remained in Beast Mode and ran all 7 classes and the informal MX-5 class and improved his times in 4 classes over March! I traveled to Pennsylvania at the beginning of April for a big race on a large track at Park Lane Hobbies. The preparation leading up to that event, the 1,000 mile drive and the 4 days and 3 nights away wore me out, so I didn't get many Mini-96 runs in this month which is probably why I was slower in all classes compared to March. Good thing Poor Boy didn't get to run much either... Here are the results:

Box Stock
1st - Traveler2/Marwan Zabaneh - 273.9/3.30s
2nd - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 306.4/3.60s
3rd - Raleigh - 361.3/4.22s
4th - Malave/Micheil Malave - 364.0/3.88s
5th - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 390.8/3.99s

Narrow Class
1st - Traveler2/Marwan Zabaneh - 283.1/3.50s
2nd - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 294.4/3.55s
3rd - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 336.9/4.03s
4th - Raleigh - 351.2/4.30s

Unofficial Open MX-5 Class
1st - Traveler2/Marwan Zabaneh - 286.8/3.49s
2nd - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 371.9/4.25s

Porsche Cup Class
1st -Traveler2/Marwan Zabaneh - 267.9/3.41s
2nd - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 279.7/3.39s
3rd - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 337.4/4.06s
4th - Raleigh - 351.2/4.30s

Stock Class
1st - Traveler2/Marwan Zabaneh - 246.7/3.02s
2nd - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 280.7/3.19s

3rd - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 312.4/3.82s

Pro Stock
1st - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 291.3/3.30s
2n -
HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 320.9/3.83s

Open 2WD
1st - Traveler2/Marwan Zabaneh - 247.0/2.96s
2nd - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 276.9/3.26s
3rd - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 343.6/4.05s

Open AWD
1st - PoorBoy/David Krinard - 295.4/3.41s
2nd - HeyDay/Kristopher Theilen - 332.0/3.84s

FTM goes to me in my Open 2WD car with a blistering 2.96 fast lap!

If anyone was late, please post up and I will update the results. Also please check my tabulations and let me know if I made any mistakes. I didn't see any entries on Facebook for March, but let me know if I missed someone.

Cheers,
Traveler2

Thanks for running this challenge. It's given me some good practice between my local races. I'm trying to at least run 2 classes for May and possible 3rd if I can get my short wheelbase settled. You guy must have so e stable hands. Good racing all!

Great , I'll start to prep the F1 for the new layout. I have a kyosho mr03 94mm Ferrari 360 gtc,wide, offset front 1 rear 1.

My usual Stock class car is a 94mm Ferrari F-430GT with 0N/0W wheels and PN 70 turn motor. That wheelbase is usually quicker for me on the Mini-96 than the 98mm 3500 car. I usually run both each month and post results for the faster one in Stock. You can scroll through this thread to see the setup on each.

This month layout also does not fit my space... but this time I make it fit by cutting two tile to fit the post in ;) (lol ... looking at the picture right now I just saw that I cut 2 tiles for nothing... it will have fit if I rotate the track 180 degree.)

Also make an easier and faster extanded version to run with friends

If someone already run this layout... what is good lap for Box Stock on this layout? Just to have a clue how far behind we are  ... and also have a goal... ( actually run a few 5.0 best lap... but most of the time I hit a wall somewhere when trying to do this kind of lap  )
But honestly the 2 tiles wide fast portion is really hard for me to be consistent in this portion

This is my first 75 lap run on this layout. I had 11 5+ second laps, so there's lots of room for improvement. I expect a Box Stock fast lap to be sub 4 seconds and a good time to be closer to the 5:00 mark by the end of the month.

Thank's Poor_Boy for your answer... really appreciated.

 Wow a fast lap of 4.25 and it's an average of 4.56 each lapt to achieve this total time... You need to be consistant as hell to do that... I'm really impressed... and also almost discourage at the same time

At least I know that I need to practice a lot before I could be competitive to run with you guy's... if ever I can...

CrazyRonny 05-06-2024 07:18 AM

Traveler2 ... Thank's for the input...
I was way more of than I anticipated I will be... will need to work a lot on driving first than on setup.
Or you guy's are just to fast

Traveler2 05-06-2024 07:23 AM

CrazyRonny Poor_Boy and I are always fighting for 1st place, so we may not be the best to benchmark against when you're new. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just keep practicing and working on your setups and it will come. We run thousands of laps every month with many cars.

HeyDay 05-06-2024 08:47 AM

CrazyRonny , it's hard to compare to Poor_Boy & Traveler2 , they are SUPER fast & consistent. Here's my slow-ass best times so far, I'm hoping for a LOT of self-improvement over the next couple of weeks, but I'll still not get close to those two speedsters.

Thank you for the input, I currently just have the stock kyosho motor in the 94 but i may be able to work out a pn 70 turn motor. I will check the rules and see if I can run a 3rd class along with the F1.

The stock Kyosho motor is legal in Stock class, although not quite as strong as the PN70T it might be easer to run the same motor in Box Stock and Stock since they will have the same powerband a more similar drive feel than Kyosho stock and PN70T, which are very different.

To give you an idea of how quickly I can usually learn a layout, below is my second Box Stock run. Same batteries as the 1st run, but 11 seconds faster and a quicker fast lap with only 7 5+ second laps. The more you practice every month, the quicker you can get a layout down. In the second half of the month, I'm usually looking to improve my best time by only a second or two. Keep at it!

Third Box Stock run. Fresh batteries, but no other changes. 9 seconds faster than second run, but should have been more if I hadn't clipped an inside corner on lap 72 and rolled the car up on its side. Luckily it rolled back onto its wheels and I kept going, but it was a 5.93 second lap, 1.5 seconds more than the average lap time of 4.43 seconds. Also only 4 5+ second laps.

That's a very helpful point and makes it easier for me to run an additional class. I'll look at the other details for that class
