All I can say is our cells are built to our specs. They have been tested over the last year at 5C charge rates with no damage shown to the cells capacities or life span. As for what brand of cells we use.......well that's a company secret.

I am trying to update my Hyperion duo to the new software and the firmware update program keeps freezing when connecting charger to PSU. What can I do to prevent this?

Also the charger is not going into Vendor mode anymore or not being picked up. Very frustrating at this moment. 2.5 hrs of nothing. Any Idea why it freezes or locks up??

I'm sorry are you directing these questions to me? I saw the name Chris and Jay and assumed you were asking others. If your having issues with the update procedure please make sure first off that you have selected the correct version for your charger model and variation. For the Original DUO you need this one:

Verify that you are trying to install the correct version for starters. Most often this is the main issue for errors.

Another helpful hint is to print off the directions so you can view while you doi the update.

I am using this. I am a PC specialist. I tryed 3 diff PCs with 3 Diff Windows. XP pro, Win Vista, win 7. And all 3 freeze. I do exactly what it tells me. When I go to connect charger to power the proggy freezes. even when I dont connect the charger to the power, and I click the proggy it freezes. Do you know why this is happening? Am I missing a file? A driver? I downloaded everything I could from the hyperion site, silicone labs. All that. I just dont know what is going on.

Ok wasn't sure. My name is Jason not Jay. Did the drivers from Silicon labs install ok? I have never heard of the program just freezing up.

yes Every Driver Is installed Correctly sir. I dont know why either it is Freezing. That is why I am asking you.

I'm running it on Vista, This is the driver I installed: Download for Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista (v5.40.24)

I don't understand your last question? The Drivers allow you to both do firmware updates and allow you to run the Data logging software.

I unistalled drivers and reinstalled as stated. Same thing sir. I dont know how it works for you but not for me.

Also the charger doesnt even go into flash mode, or whatever you cal it to see. I dont get that 1 beep. I get the 3 beeps.

Always use the execution file that comes in the zip file. They get updated as the firmware gets updated. As for your situation all I can say is trying contacting empire hobby they are the US Distributor for the Hyperion chargers and may have an answer to what your seeing. 480-982-0909
