Guys anyone here tried to order from Towerhobbies? I ordered my stuff a week ago and they cancelled my order because they claimed that there were many orders from Malaysia and most of them are frauds.... damn cheaters..... Now I have to source my stuff elsewhere. In fact many sites now do not accept orders from Malaysia... I guess either Singapore or HK will be my place to get my stuff...

Tower Hobbies
I have had 3 successful orders delivered from Tower Hobbies. So far, their service has been very good. I depend on Tower Hobbies for parts and they are reliable. Try to use air mail whenever possible coz I tried surface mail once and it took almost 2 months to arrive as compared to 2 weeks for the air mail option. You will have to do Customs declaration once the package arrives since Tower Hobbies do not print the contents of the package on the box. There is a Customs import duty but it is only 5% and calculated based on weight (not price) of the product. I use a verified Credit Card and they have never refused my purchases.

I think they categorised it as under Toys(!). Its 5% for the parts, kits and other stuffs but 10% for radio equipment.

Btw, if you guys need anything from Towers, maybe I can help. You can just piggyride on my next order (if you guys can trust me). Then we can split on the shipping cost.

Well, I buy spare parts for my Duratrax SFGP (see the For SALE thread!). Also, electronics are quite cheap e.g; std servos for USD9 or cheap 2channel AM radio for USD39~RM160. Also, sometimes they have special offers and rebates, so when you take advantage of these offers, its a lot cheaper than buying in m'sia or s'pore even after + tax and shipping! For example, I got my Kyosho Wild Dodge Ram w/GS15R QRS for USD149~RM600. Where can you get a new MT with .15 size engine for RM600 in m'sia? Even after factoring in tax (RM100) + shipping (RM60), that is still a good bargain =RM760, for a .15 power Kyosho MT. Right now, they have a Fall SALE on and there are some good bargains e.g; I saw a V-One-S listed at USD178~less than RM800 I think. Thats a good price. Just add a 2-speed (USD55) and you have a very good .15 1/10th Nitro TC complete with engine! The same kit is RM1150 here I think, with 1-speed. Also, I think Chargers are quite cheap, but most are US type AC power(120v), but you can always use DC. Low end radios are quite cheap also, but US only has 27/72/75mhz. I think a new Futaba 3PK (top range!) is USD320, thats cheaper than the RM1.8k-2k that some LHS has quoted to me when it will be available in m'sia.
take a look at their site www.TowerHobbies.com and decide for yourself. The 2 week waiting is killer though.... but all their products can be RMA'd. I only wish they had more products from high-end companies like Serpent and Associated.
zerotorc, I'm at Nong Chik, Kolam Air (near EC).
